The most bothersome thing about this new feature, for the Popular Sites and Categories is that it's changing information based on Geo Location.

Some people will call this tracking...
Some might call it spying...
Some might also say it feels like an invasion of privacy...

Hmm, what about this as Vivaldi's form of Telemetry.

However it's looked at, it is the type of thing, feeding information based on location, something that a lot of people don't like.

I personally don't want a browser or company to know my Geo Location in this manner, and information is being fed based off of my location.

So this is not about a so called hidden unobtrusive feature, not doing anything until you use it. This appears to run as you use the browser changing Data constantly as locations change.

You could say;
It Runs in the Background Data Collecting

It also makes no sense, that a company that promotes privacy and security would do this.

Here are three screen shots, with a VPN using three different locations. You can see the Popular Sites change, and the amount of Categories changes too for each location.

Т.е. сразу понятно, где какой товар.

Если скриншоты сайтов невзрачные, то можно установить свою картинку. Но вот делать цветные плитки с доменом или названием сайта - это вообще не решение даже близко.

Keep in mind that if you are using code from third party modules (e.g. NPM) they can have all kinds of stuff in them, down to and including malware and phone-home tracking. All of them needs to be reviewed for what they actually do, not just what they say they do.

@qjava Thank you very much. I tried putting address bar to the button, but two bars took a bit too much space, and I am using Vivaldi on a laptop, so I would prefer to have a compact view.
cmd+F10 is indeed an option for me, though I still like the previous compact view a bit better - the address bar (cmd+L) does not need to jump out every time I need it, and a stable UI seems to be nicer for me.
I am currently continue using Vivaldi 6.6 where I can have the desired traffic light location. If Vivaldi 6.6 stopped working at some point, and I have to switch to a higher version, I think I will use the cmd+F10 option...
Still, I am hoping that there is a solution...

The traffic light location becomes a bit nicer, but somehow my top bar height is not as compact as his...

I gave up to workaround.
I deleted my Online Backup, and created a new password.
Luckily I had all data on my computer, so could sync it back up to Vivaldi.

I'm afraid you don't have more control over the traffic light location than that. At least I haven't figured out a way to move them just a few pixels further down. I think it would require changes by the Vivaldi developers.

To make the address bar less tall you can probably just find a more compact theme and/or enable compact mode in your settings.
