Yeah, i am used from FF to look everything in one bar, the address bar. Nice to know, the quotes ("_") it is a solution for searching of words or sentences in the address bar. It works without "Search in Address Field" enabled. Thanks for your tip.
Anyway, i overlooked the "Search in Address Field" option in the "Search" section settings. This is it!
@gaelle What's the status of the investigation? This bug still occurs in Vivaldi 2.7.1628.28. I'd like to come back to Vivaldi, but until this bug is squashed once and for all, I will have to keep using Chrome. ☹
Sorry, I have caused misunderstanding. I do not want to do a search within the URL. I want to pick words (highlight them) which are part of the URL an start a websearch for them. Just like one can highlight any text on a webpage and then choose "search for [text]" in right click context menu.
We already got a similiar context menu in address bar. But this one does only contain "copy", "insert", "insert notice" and so on. Not "search for". I know that this a very specific request, but it does appear to be very easy to implement. Just use show the same context menu when rightclicking on text in addressbar as is currently shown when rightlicking on text anywhere else.
Nowadays I have to mark the text I want, copy it to clipboard, and paste it to a searchfield somewhere else (which I have to open first). That's uncomfortable especially if one does not want to move between mouse and keyboard.
edit: I corrected thread title to avoid future misunderstandings
@ndat The example in your first post made it sound like clicking on a search suggestion would go to a URL related to that specific suggestion (i.e. example.com) and not a search with your search engine (i.e. example.com/?q=Test).
Your second example is much more clear and with your inclusion of type=image I can now see why you would want this feature. 👍
