@vivaldigem The issue with paste and tab switch is a known and old unfixed bug with Vivaldi.

Google has made a very crappy webapp which is not easy to debug for Vivaldi developers.

Yes, but you misunderstand. At first when I upgraded from 6.8 to 6.9, there was no problem. The problem started (in my main profile) when I opened a new profile in 6.9 (for testing). So looks to be some weird bug, because my main profile should not be affected by some other profile.

Because it happened again. From out of the blue, Vivaldi disabled the Compact Layout, eventhough in my settings it's still enabled, very weird. 😕

I can’t promise a date, but there has been steady progress made on this. This feature should be ready to go real soon. Unless something unexpected and really bad pops up, this should be ready for the next feature release.

This is probably my last opportunity to tease this upcoming feature …

In our internal test builds, it takes a second or two from opening a new page until it’s show in the Synced Tabs and Windows panel lists on your other synced devices. It takes a second or two from you change a note on one device until the change pops up in your other devices. 🙂

@DoctorG Well, the extension is not to blame. "Browser Boost" offers an option to force the context menu, text selection and copying where webpages disable it. A feature that I thought was useful but eventually caused more harm than good 😅 .

I did not say dangerous, that is your interpretation. Switching to a problematic SecureDNS provider can result in connection issues with Vivaldi.

Vivaldi Android has a ifferent browser UI, that's all.

Internal network settings will be added to Vivaldi Desktop UI at the time Vivaldi developer team decides it.

I think @yural is referring to the use of multiple Profiles and when reopened Vivaldi only opens the last active profile. If that is so then starting Vivaldi with --profile-directory parameter set maybe an option.

Which operating system are you running Vivaldi in?

@h2sm You utter my sentiments exactly. Vivaldi's tab and session management were great, far exceeding any other browser's capabilities for users of many, many tabs like us. That is, until this crash-without-recovery issue arose.

The common suggestions to delete/rename one's profile etc. are completely beside the point, we well know that it's something in the saved session data that's causing the crash, but the saved session data itself is far more important than the choice of browser. Unrecoverable sessions are absolutely not acceptable.

Fortunately I (currently) have a feasible workaround of starting Vivaldi with a private window, then opening a new window, which happens to open the saved session as well (in yet another window). So clearly nothing in that saved session and its tabs is truly preventing Vivaldi from launching, it must be a really dumb error causing those startup crashes, some uncaught and unhandled exception, Programming 101 stuff.
