I don't know how you can say "that's a majority of users" when the thread for that request has fewer posts and votes over years while this one has only been active for a little over a week. Personally I never have this issues and I use thumbs
This fix is now inconsistent with the placement for top and bottom tabs. Edge has vertical tabs as well and does not have the same scrolling problem.
A bug would be that double clicking empty space on the tab container does not always open a new tab. Some times it seems locked and unresponsive which forces me to use the button
