@vineyridge The current DEB package of Vivaldi should work fine with Debian 12.1. Snap and Flatpak packages run sandboxed in Linux and I can confirm, as @lfisk mentioned, they will not be able to access everything.

I am on Arch Linux, and had this problem after I updated vivaldi package 7.4.3684.43-1 -> 7.4.3684.50-1 @tr3k Thanks for your solution, worked for me. I wanted to add my notes. Delete the entire key storage named kwallet It was called kdewallet in my system. Import the previously backed up key storage using File > Import Encrypted After I did this, it did not appeared in KWalletManager UI, but it actually was imported. I just needed to reboot system to see that it is there again. This possibly was because I disabled every connected app (including kded6) before deleting it at step 2. Start vivaldi. Now, Vivaldi runs normally (opens your profile as expected).

I noticed that in the latest snapshot, it's impossible to even install a PWA. @mib2berlin can you confirm if possibly they're working on fixing some stuff with PWA support, which is why they may have removed that? I would imagine it's temporary, but I'm hoping that means they're fixing this issue and perhaps a few others, like JavaScript alerts not popping up.

@lfisk That's a great feature, but I'm not interested in faking my geolocation. I use Vivaldi in several locations on a laptop.

@justresisting yes, thank you, I figured it out, just didn't know about it. Was able to recover a great deal of the tabs from history, I guess I'll find the rest when I remember I need it

@Pathduck said in Qwant filtering: @simonj I don't get that here at all, not after clearing all cache+cookies. I'm in Norway. Not using the VPN set to Netherlands either. Are you using some country-specific instance of Qwant? this is the one I cannot remove as it is cookie based Everything on a webpage can be removed with element hiding rules. I am in Spain and most sites acknowledge that correctly, YouTube sometimes puts me in the Netherlands but still in Europe either way. It's not a problem now, I can work with it, I just wanted to show the popup I was seeing

Hi @crossandroads -- thanks but nope. Admittedly, I DID delete some useless (to me) things like the items under "Shopping", "Travel", etc. Individually removed. Also, despite my having the option "Show bookmarks bar" and selecting the location at the "top", no bookmarks bar is shown at all. EDIT: Just ran the "import" from Brave browser again. Interestingly enough, the list of things to import includes "Bookmarks" but the "successful" results has a "Favorites" not "Bookmarks". Everything else (history, passwords, etc.) match up.

@Clorf Hi, tabs are not in sync but you can open and share tabs from/to other devices. I sync many devices but never got duplicated tabs and iirc nobody ever report this here in the forum. Check the windows panel, from there you can select one or more tabs to open it, you can also remove double tabs there.

Not using them myself, but did you look at this youtube video? It shows on the screen — at ±46 sec — they stay on screen for about an hour depending on your setting.

@xcommy said in Vivaldi does only show splash screen: Is the LXC container the problem? Not sure, what happens if you do not run it in a container. If you do not want to install system wide, just unpack and run it in place as a test like this from an empty directory Extract $ ar p vivaldi-stable_7.4.3684.50-1_amd64.deb data.tar.xz | tar Jx ./opt --strip 2 Run $ vivaldi/vivaldi --user-data-dir=vivaldi/user-data & You can quit and then do the run command again to relaunch. Same issue or not? P.S. When you are done just delete the unpack folder vivaldi if you no longer need it.

I am readily reproducing this problem on NixOS with GNOME. I have to use Ctrl+Q to exit the browser before suspending.

@DoctorG Ah! Now that you mention it, I did not have gnome-keyring installed until about a week ago. And the app that required it ... it turns out I don't really want to use it anyway. Let's see what happens if I delete them. UPDATE: No, that's not the answer.

I've done some more tests over the past few days and I think I've nearly figured it out, I did test in a new user profile yesterday, but I'm curious if it's reproducible outside my machine now. So, the actual issue seems to be this: If one monitor is set at 100% scale and another monitor is set at 75% scale, the window size of the window on the 75% scale monitor gets smaller whenever focus is shifted to/from the vivaldi window on the 75% scale monitor. Feels like an issue with the scaling itself, but everything else I try seems to handle it fine, I still haven't been able to reproduce this with anything outside of Vivaldi. It looks like the #wayland-ui-scaling and #wayland-per-window-scaling flags in vivaldi://flags may be intended to address this, but I haven't had any luck with those.

@falconizmi Use the Vivaldi mail client and you don’t need to login to gmail, if that’s all there is to it.

@fautol It would be useful if you provide more details about your configuration. I don't see that you confirm having run through the Troubleshooting steps from the help pages. That would help narrow down the cause of your issues. Also: Disabling Extensions in the Extension manager may not actually disable their breaking of the system, launching Vivaldi with the command line flag used to disable extensions is the only way to be sure extensions aren't interfering.
