Looks like you picked DDG for private browsing. Can't be too sure because your screenshot doesn't show the actual selected engines, but in the list below DDG has the "PRIVATE" tag, so that leads me to believe that.

@PeterMyoku Nitrokey with newer FIDO2 is not supported at this time by mail server.
A internal fix was tested last year by me and it worked, but the fix is not yet released for server auth.

@enicchi That seems strange but I'm no expert in that area. I rarely use Sync. Mostly just for testing stuff like right now and setting up a new device. Not knowing how two devices will intermingle settings keeps me from using it for anything else😐

@resz41 Would be better and faster to install Mint 22 and apps new.
If you have separate partitions for system and /home that should work.
I hope that Mint is able to can do this from a USB stick.

🔥 Mint 22 can not install new and craps the system, does not find any disk after boot.

Seems installer did not update boot system. Bad OS.

I can not help more for Mint as special Ubuntu clone.

There are 5 locations in the free tier – JP, NL, US, RO, PL – for more you need to pay. Why is that not acceptable? Proton never stated all their servers are free.

It will be like that with others, except for those that don't care about your privacy.

Incidentally, Proton does not have a cap on maximum usage/month for the free tier, whereas Windscribe, a comparable service, caps you at 10 GB/month, though you do get a choice of more locations, incl. e.g. Hong Kong.

Makes one wonder if that's down to Vivaldi's Chromium base, where their hands are seemingly tied, or whether it is something they'd have pushed users to 'accept' even if these were still the Presto days, when they had it all under their own control.
Google Manifest v3 / webrequest API is another bitter pill, coming into full effect this summer, IIRC. Well, the times up to v12.15 (v12.18) were great, after that, for the most part, many upsides and relatively few downsides. The only unchanging thing? Change itself.

The issue is already known for some users and will be investigated by developer team.
I hope they catch the bug and smash it.
