@WildEnte Ideally we would like to cater to both types of users with options. But I guess your analysis is pretty accurate, we do lean more towards personal although that is not an intentional decisicion.

yes, you can have several calendars in one calendar account, but until the release of version 6.5 (when the bugfix for VB-100927 comes to the stable channel) you can't add such a calendar via the Vivaldi client interface. Add a calendar in the web interface, and after some time (latest after restart) Vivaldi will find this new calendar. See https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/92140/error-creating-calendar-on-server

Same problem here using caldav + davmail. Alas. I recreated calendar and it helped at this time.

@mib3berlin Tnx. I've hidden tasks in M3 and using only events - From and To - my main yahoo caldav acccount and holidays from the gmail calendar.

@mikeyb2001 This is a known issue. It is related to recurring events, especially long running and / or those with many exceptions or changes. Most common with Google calendars it seems, but that may be just because Google is the most commonly used server.

We have never been able to reproduce the problem properly to fix the bug(s) but I am currently working on one bug I did find which does cause duplicates but hardly could explain so many as you have. Also plan to make some changes which I hope will help, but that is just a theory for now.

But to at least give you an idea:

I absolutly have no clue what the tab (the left part of the calender) is for. It somehow may or may not interact with the right part. (Yesterday the only thing I was able to do there was accidentialy deleting an appointment, yes stupid me ... or WTF)

Selecting an other year (which in most cases will boil down to select the next and then the previous year) could be made by one click using ">" and"<". Instead you click on the indicated year, a popup window with a matrix instead of a list appears. Matrixes are per se unergonomic as far as the imminent orientation and perception of its content and the order therof is concerned. Here it is a waste of space and it has the appearence of a waste of space, it is the contrary to overview, it is a click too much and a waste of everything. And although it is (yet another) LITTLE detail, it is an other OBVIOUS proof of ergonomic blindness. It is obvious. And to whom it is not, they better do not participate in this conversation.
Finding nontheless how to change the year proofes NOTHING, or only something I better refrain to write down.

Same Problem here.
When I add a new task on 30.11.2023 in the Tooltip-Text it shows up as from 30.11.2023-29.11.2023 as you can see in the Screenshot.
In Vivaldi-Tasks the new task will be correctly shown on the 30.11.2023 but in Google-Task this task will be shown one day earlier on the 29.11.2023.

But I think the tooltip-text shows that there is a problem relating to timezones.
My timezone is CET (Central European Time) UTC/GMT +1

I had the same problem too as I use outlook calendar but wanted to use Vivaldi instead of outlook for windows. This is my workaround for now - adding outlook calendar to the panel.

Yes, 404 can have many reasons.
I guess the problem for the developer is all provider implement the color feature different.
Google, Microsoft, Apple use all it's own system not the standard for colored events and the change it frequently.
I use Google and Vivaldi calendar so I have 3 colors already and I don`t support request I don't really need.
The developer have a Kilometer long todo list already.

Update: the Davx5 setup informs me that Xiaomi devices block synchronisation - this might be my problem.

@Windrose Do you see any errors logged? You can check logs either by

Opening the calendar button in the status bar and selecting Logs there, or Navigating to vivaldi://inspect#apps, clicking on the "inspect" link below the line ending in /main.html and selecting Console tab in the dev tools view.

Not sure there will be anything useful in there, but there might be.

The whole invites mechanism is quite immature and needs a lot of work. Given who implemented it, it is a wonder that is even a little useful 😉

Having buttons that do nothing is never a good thing. I'll try to get around to improving this ASAP.

@valiowk the mail/feeds/calendar module is not accessible from a private window... which makes sense from a privacy/security point of view.

There is an open bug report VB-100927 [Calendar] Can not create calendar on vivaldi.net server (confirmed)

For the time being you have to create the calendar in the webmail interface and then either wait a while or restart Vivaldi, it will find the calendar then.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you that this has changed. Please upvote (👍) the feature request here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/53367/fix-width-for-week-view-and-panel.

@Fubero Honestly, it's unusable... and no one answered so far. That's shows there's not much interest in improving this functionality.

The notes should have tasks and reminders capability and there should be a way to sync them in mobile.

I've been told aCalendar+ is the way to go... Well, i can't use it.

While Notes in Vivaldi for Desktop lags and misses a few features, Notes in Vivaldi for mobile is unusable. Try to search something and it stalls. Vivaldi needs to make a separate Notes/Tasks app for mobile that works. Even make one separate app for Notes/Tasks for desktop.

There's no point in having features that do not work properly.
There is no way to use these features at the moment. And i would definitely use it everyday to organize my life.

Btw, let me just place my expectations here of what a proper Note-taking + Tasks + Reminders should be like, for future reference.

Inline files (docs and media) - Partially done, but works for images. Recurring inline reminders/Tasks in Notes - Missing Proper Web-clipper - Can only take screenshots Table creation for notes - Can copy tables, but there's no button for it. Syncing with mobile - Notes ok ; No Tasks/Reminders Separate mobile app to prevent system hogging and improve usability - Missing If... tasks remains in Vivaldi browser, the browser should be able to run in background (like Edge and Chrome already do). There is no point to set reminders if you won't be reminded if the app is closed. And btw, this goes for Mail and RSS too. These features are fantastic in Vivaldi and we need reminders when the browser is closed.

The rest of the already implemented features are great, like folder organization for notes, location and url, recurring reminders and so on.

So... This would be perfect and it looks 'simple' enough, but there's no app that offers this in a simple, light and usable interface. After studying this for months, I found this is what people look for in note taking / reminder apps. This allows you to create a so called 'second brain' and make yourself organized. Joplin does this to some extent but needs Plugins that do not work on mobile, or the sync is not easy or free to setup, like Obsidian and the likes.

Todo lists like Microsoft Todo or Google Tasks are not good for notes. OneNote is cumbersome. Google Keep is not 'visual' enough to organize large sets of notes. Calendars are just not practical for note-taking also.

Anytype is becoming fantastic but doesn't have reminders (although is one if not the most requested feature). Also, if all you want is to take notes and set reminders, there's no need for an app that takes 10 seconds to load.

Notion... almost everything works great, much like Anytype, but recurring reminders are a nightmare to setup, you need third-party APIs, etc.

There are apps that offer similar features, but most lack some features. I also see notes as very private information, so it's very important to have a company we can trust to give us these features. That company is Vivaldi.

So... that's about it. I have tons of ideas for this. If i can help in any way, let me know... If this doesn't happen, i see myself forced to develop it myself 🙂 If only i had the time...
