Speaking generally:
Unless we need more specific information we don't send or reply to emails; although there can e.g. be quick emails confirming reproduction, or asking for crashdumps.
If you think about it, you will realize that the testers cannot spend too long on average considering each report (given that there are hundreds of new ones each week; 15 mins each means max 150 a week per employee tester), which is why well-formulated, organized, and easy to reproduce reports are more likely to be acted on, than much shorter reports that does not have many details. Additionally, each email tailored to a report will usually take several minutes, perhaps more, depending on the complexity, so sending an email means that we think it is urgent to get an answer.
If a bug is fixed, and listed in the changelog, an email will be automatically sent for the reporters of that bug and any duplicates.
