to simply remove this ADD TAB button was a pretty ignorant and not clever decision by the developers or just one super bright of them, which is usually the cause. i thought the vivaldi devs are smarter and wiser than that.

I used this button a lot, now it has just been removed. honestly?

The Vivaldi Developers seem to move into the ignorant Microsoft, Google direction.

"We do what we want, its our product, you shut up and take what we give to you!!"

Bring back that little CROSS to add a new Tab please or add an option for it.

@janrif is isolated to some mails or happen on all mails within the vivaldi account?
have you offline prefetch enabled? (will download mails per account for a quicker access)

Doesn't seem to be related at all but it fixes the horrible new UI.

Now just a way to revert the font rendering back to how it was.

Have you tried adjusting the filter lists? While the built-in ad blocker doesn't have as many options as the extensions do, if you curate your own filter list it can be just as effective as those extensions.

I don't use any of the default lists, I've carefully chosen 4 that have proven to do a very good job for me. Not only do they pass the tests at sites like https://adblock-tester.com and https://coveryourtracks.eff.org, but they don't cause me any problems when browsing.

You don't want to use too many lists, because the more you have the slower things get, but if you choose wisely the internal ad block works quite well.

I'm running Catalina on a late-2012 Mac mini, and am using Vivaldi 6.7.3329.17 / Chrome 124.0.6367.90 — the latest Stable. Without problems! (I also use the Snapshots.) The last I heard, Catalina will be supported to or through October...

Rather than trying various older versions, I'd recommend you use the latest! Enjoy! 🙂

EDIT: One further tip — for its first opening, left-click on the V icon in the Applications folder and select Open. Then you should see a two-choice dialog; choose Open...
(This dialog warns of an app downloaded from the internet — like you didn't know that! 🙂 )

Honestly it looks like cleartype is off on on V6.7 where on V6.6 it looks like it is on. Test is sharp and clear on V6.6. On V6.7 it's very thick/blurry and not good.

I'm noticing quite a difference in responsiveness of the UI and startup time since I've deleted that Storage folder. Interesting how purging an old folder can have such an impact.

I understand how this is a punctual solution but I think that Vivaldi should be great with both a simple / minimalist setup and a poweruser setup that has everything turned on. After all it still is native Vivaldi, it's not like someone added toolbars, extensions or mods that made it less visually pleasing.

I do have some ideas but I wanted to hear other people's opinions and get a good look at references before making any serious sketches. I always attempt to make proper resesarch before spending hours on a design that tries to fix a nonexistent problem haha. I'll remember to tag you whenever I share any ideas on this topic.
