I've also been having issues with webpages not loading or taking a long time to load in Vivaldi. I use a MacBook pro and MacBook Air. After much trial and error, (very much trial and error) I've come to realize that it's the font settings in Dark Reader that is interfering with Vivaldi on my Macs. I don't think it's an issue on my Windows machines. I don't use them much anymore. I've been on my MacBook Pro all day today and have had no issues with Dark Reader turned off.

I have both of those off, but apparently there's a new checkbox called "Form Autofill Assist" that was on.

Yes, that's how I figured it out when I have to use other goofle resources other than "search" (Ad generator).

Though this has become less of an issue since I switched search engines. Also I rarely store anything on Gdrive or use sheets anymore.

I am on Linux.

And yes, that compiler optimizations hit in some scenarios, and not in others, is about to be expected.

I do love the Vivaldi UI and I would not use it, without.

I hope, someone sees the benefit of upgrading to a more modern architecture.

@barbudo2005 fair enough. I'm pretty sure that for the few people who get bothered by the automatic rendering of dark mode, they will look for an extension. This suggestion isn't targeted to OCD dark mode people. Honestly, the automatic one doesn't bother me too much, but a few pages can get annoying, so I'll check the extension. This feature could also benefit mobile users as mobile don't usually accept extensions (I didn't check for Vivaldi mobile tho)

hi yeah, I know I can click on the image to resize it, but I would prefer for there to be an option to set the default display method as: 'display original'. If I then want the image shrunk to fit the window I can always click on it to have that happen.

Setting of default behaviours is not going to suit everyone and I believe that having a choice is better than not having a choice.

I've found a Chrome extension (image autosizer) which kind of does what I want but it has quite quirky behaviour and is still not as capable as Firefox once you turn off the auto-resize option in about:config.

As a retired developer I know it's not a big task to NOT call the function to resize a large image to fit the page on loading the image, and it's not a big task to provide a settings option to toggle this behaviour on/off.
I just hope it's an option which eventually gets included 🙂

If this option is disabled, Dark Reader will check if a website has native dark theme, and will call for it. If this option is enabled, Dark Reader will ignore native dark theme and convert the light version of the website to dark according to Dark Reader's inversion instructions.

So if the website is actively checking my OS theme (which is dark), and serves me dark version anyway, then this option will just change what kind of dark theme I'm getting: I will be served either the original dark theme, or Dark Reader's inverted dark theme.

AFAIK, there is no way to request original Light theme using Dark Reader.

Now, thanks to Vivaldi's new setting, I can force all websites to be Light in Vivaldi, and have Dark Reader decide which websites and when to request/convert to dark.
