I think this is because Safari on iPad reports as a desktop (likely a Mac) instead of an iOS device to force websites to show the desktop versions instead of the mobile ones. They made that change with iOS 13, if I recall. Sure enough, when requesting the mobile website, it appears as expected.
In any case, I'm excited!
