@trit34 said in Vivaldi 7.1: Widgets, Tabs, and sleek start to 2025: Before I fill a bug report, I want to say that there is a bug with the clock in the status bar: first, let me tell you that I show the seconds and only the clock when an alarm is set. I noticed, after upgrading to 7.1, that the clock ends being “frozen” after some time (seconds are blocked). It’s still functioning (hours and minutes are updated), though, despite the seconds field stays at “:00”. I have to set a fake alarm or hide/show seconds again to make them working again (but only for some time before they are blocked again). Other bug: the setting to hide alarms’ names is not working, and is always shown in the status bar, even if you don’t want it. Plus, when an alarm is done, it’s not listed anymore in a finished timers list: they are totally deleted. All these bugs occur on Vivaldi Stable 7.1, as well on Windows as on Linux. The RC step seems to not have tested the clock among the possible regressions from 7.0, I guess… I’ve sent two bug reports about these bugs: VB-113760 and VB-113761.

@jon said in A New Vivaldi – A Whole New Browsing Experience: Vivaldi 7.0 introduces a completely redesigned user interface, featuring floating tabs, sleek new icons, and a customizable Dashboard. The new Dashboard centralizes your digital tools into one convenient space. Along with updated Feed Reader capabilities, Vivaldi 7.0 is not just an update, it’s a new Vivaldi. Well I personally love the old design. Though this one has some amazing display features like I am loving this customizable dashboard. This is so beautifully designed!

@iPristy The 132 Stable release date is January 14 2025 A (not so) funny fact: The originally scheduled 132 release date was Tuesday this week (the 17th); we were able to convince them to move it out into January.

@herop: This is the stable stream. Minor updates annoucements are always stable. There are no snapshot minor updates. They are just snapshots. All snapshots are here: https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/snapshots/ All minor updates to stable are annouced here https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/updates/ Snaphot does not switch to stable unless you download and manually install over the top. For autoupdate this will not happen. If you want the current version number for stable it is in the sidebar of the blog, or you can hover the download links on https://vivaldi.com/download/ and you will see it in the name of the package (see your status bar).

Just out of curiosity, why does Belgium need a specific bookmark update?

Hi, version 7 fixed my long time problem with freezing of tabs when I quickly open 10 - 20 links from Google results each to a new tab. But there is new problem on main and snapshot version - periodic high CPU usage in "video_capture.mojom.VideoCaptureService" process. How to disable this process? I kill that process, so CPU goes down, but then in unknown cases it starts using CPU again, so I need to kill it again...

@Culip, works for me, without problems. Have you activated calendar/mail/feed (needed, because related)? Try the troubleshooting steps, maybe an extension or setting is causing this issue.

@xyzzy You are right about those two. What it looks like is that Chromium supports the older unsupported OS version for two years after OS vendor support ended. In some ways Win 7 was an exception, but that was because Win7 business users could pay for support until 3 years after public support ended, and the Chromium support was ended as the paid support ended, alongside Win 8.1. (There is a similar 3 year paid support system announced for Win10 when public support ends in a year.) So, .... In a year we will probably be having this discussion again, for MacOS 11

Just updated, and I love the new roomier density, but don't like the floating tabs. Is there any way to keep the density while disabling floating tabs. CSS or otherwise? Thanks!
