Vivaldi 3.4 RC 1 – Vivaldi Desktop Browser snapshot 2066.64/65

@potmeklecbohdan Lets be honest, anything with more features than a command line web browser is bloated garbage for the uneducated masses. It makes people actively dumber.

heh, yeah, damn noobs!
-
@luetage I meant it more like a program should do one thing, and do one thing well. One should fetch the data, another display them. Another tie the two together. The problem is, browsers usually include all of them with only minimal chance of use from outside (e.g., do you know if you can use Vivaldi from the command line to download a page?; It can display local files, but that’s a side effect).
-
@luetage IMO it all became excessive bloat once we expanded our scope from just the 0s, to including the 1s.
Slippery slope.
-
@Steffie Yeah, it really all went downhill from there, didn’t it.
-
@rseiler: Yes,I have the same issue.
-
I have the same problem. It never works as expected, it updates one or two times and then stops shortly before the end of the update period.
Also the German version.

@ian-coog: Hi iAN, we had a fix already, but we didn't cherry pick it to the snap, as it is a bit risky to take just yet, we'll try to get the fix out to you asap tho
-
@Aronand great, thanks
-
@luetage My line is not arbitrary. It is drawn from decades of experience on My Opera and these forums. I see what feature requests recur repeatedly, and which are most popular. Let me know about any threads requesting a Super Mario type game, or any game at all, and let us see how many users have requested it.
Votes for Feature Requests
-
@Pesala 8 people, including the requester
This request is still in the top 1/3 of all requests, going by number of votes
-
@Pesala however, the point is that innovation is almost by definition not simply responding to expectation...
(and again, I think we all get your point but this falls under the category of fun little things which can be ignored by some but endear the Vivaldi team to many of its users)

I wonder what's worse: crying over spilt milk, or easter eggs?
-
@hilumcool: Some result whether snapshot or stable stream.

For the last couple of updates I have two icons on my task bar. I'm using Windows 10, Vivaldi is pinned to the task bar. When I open Vivaldi, the pinned icon remains and a new icon is created for the open browser. Is this only me?
-
@doctord: Pin new icon and delete old icon.
-
@DoctorD
Not just you, me too. In my case if you pin the new icon and delete the old one on restarting the PC I have no Vivaldi taskbar icons at all and need to re-add one. -
