@matiasmovie You can if you check the option in settings to "close as other tabs" under pinned tabs section. Otherwise, "Don't close pinned tabs" is meant to be what it says - pinning is supposed to prevent a tab being closed. That was the original concept and purpose of tab pinning.
Pinned tabs are meant normally not to be closed by accident. But sometimes you no longer need some pinned tab. In this case instead of unpinning and closing it might be more convenient to close the tab in the usual way, but answer yes to the confirmation which appears when closing the pinned tab.
Total commander works this way, but it calls such tabs locked, not pinned:
So I propose to add an option to behave this way:
I am also having this problem. I would very much like to disable this "feature" (bug).
I'm using an extension called Workona for tab/workspace management and it creates its own pinned tabs. I don't want to preserve those tabs when closing a window.
Hi @Pesala !
Thanks for the tip.
No, I didn't know about it. I checked it out and it doesn't do what I'm requesting.
"as other tabs" allows you to "accidentally" close a pinned tab (i.e. via middle-clicking it) which is not what I'm suggesting.
I'm suggesting *only* adding a context-menu option to close pinned tabs despite the pin; that way you can close them without the unpinning hassle but never accidentally...
@69bugz I second this. Currently, pinned Gmail and Hangouts tabs don't give you any sort of indication you have an unread message except for a one time sound, so heaven forbid you have your headphones off or are away from the computer when you get a message.
@pvdp said in Lock/Protect Tabs:
So what happened with this request?
With over 3,900 feature requests, and a small team, those needed by few users or difficult to implement may have to wait for a long time. Wherever you see that a feature is tagged as In Progress, it may get done this year rather than next.
I really need a secure pinned tab, so I can pin my unread e-mails and have easy access to it without opening any other website on pinned tab by mistake. also, a badge on tab icon for unread mail count would be perfect.
@potmeklecbohdan Oh sure, yeah, right. Go on then, just give 'em all the direct link. It's terrible discrimination; all those hoops through which you made me jump to eventually find my way there, along excruciatingly labyrinthine pathways... but now you just give the link away! You set me impossible riddles to solve, but now you throw the door wide open. So mean!
I wanna complain to the manager! I also wanna refund. Throw in some world peace too, please.
