@Gregor Currently, right-click menu, Open in background tab works. Ctrl+Click is used for making multiple selections, so that cannot do both jobs. Middle-click would be useful for those with a MMB.

@nefarious That will have to do since Vivaldi team... yep. Unfortunaly was made with Manifest V2, so it will stop working.
