@vivaldinew111 What I don't like at Firefox is that it is slow, quite bad designed(old-fashioned) and that it doesn’t have a built in ad-block feature. I mainly moved to Vivaldi due its customization options, its extra features like the email, calendar, tasks and web panels. I think I'll never go back to Firefox. I'm happier with Vivaldi, despite its high resources usage and instability.
What I don't like at Vivaldi is that its mobile version doesn't support extensions, although I know it is not possible to add this feature in a Chromium-based browser.

OK some pointers:

Chrome/Chromium and most Chromium-based browsers use the Omnibox.

Firefox and Mozilla-based browsers use a ranking based on some "Frecency" algorithm:

It prioritized History searches over Bookmarks, as it wanted users to save their history so Google could slurp and index it. Google is a "search company"[1] and they made damn sure its History search was really good, so people would use it instead of Bookmarking stuff.

So is Chrome's Omnibox search better than Vivaldi's implementation?
It depends. The Omnibox does not allow for any customization of results or priorities - it uses algorithms to guess what the user wants. And it's pretty good at guessing, that's true.

For people who rely solely on their History to find web pages, the Omnibox is great, probably better than Vivaldi. But I've not used Chrome to any large extent so wouldn't be able to tell. Most people coming from other browsers will be used to the Omnibox and so that's what they expect. They'll just have to learn the Vivaldi way.

[1] Google is actually a data collection and advertising company but that's another discussion.

@Catweazle True for the wording being complicated and omiting and I agree on that however some practices in the past ( i.e. DDG) proved that some questionable stuff might be going on. As I said before , my testing is very limited and dowloaded only because your comments were positive. I typically don't download without extensive research. Thanks for your input

@AllanH Supermium sounds interesting! The fact that it supports Windows XP and older versions is a big plus for those still using that operating system. The improved security and usability features are also worth noting!

I keeping using Vivaldi (and try to whenever i can) as im an old Opera 12.x user and like what the dev team has created and what they have added over time (never realised how much customization has come back ...). Much of it works for me, but for various reasons i cant commit fully to using it as my only browser (YT doesnt work all the time and various video streaming accounts work on and off and some others sites wont work with vivaldi properly for me etc)...so i have others on hand like Brave and Edge/Chrome for certain types of account and sites

Also note that this is the Default setting, so you have changed something yourself to make it not do this.
