The "switch" is done by websites detecting geolocation and slecting the language related to location.

@modemrunner I had no trouble seeing that it had changed, I just clicked on the icon and that's when you get the disconnect button and it shows there the server location. Yesterday it was Seattle, WA. Today it actually changed twice, first Amsterdam, Netherlands and for a short time Tokyo, Japan and then back to Amsterdam. But I never received any notification that it changed I just had to look and see myself. Decided it was more trouble than I wanted to put up with. Nice idea but just not for me and I cannot afford to pay for it.)

Yeah, I DO want to try out VPN for access to more realistic costs for MotoGP/Netflix, etc, so may have to take out some sort of a sub, for testing...

@sgolux There isn't a need for it on these two questions.

The VPN is a browser extension, so it isn't touching traffic outside of the browser at all. An employer is likely to lock your account if you try to use the VPN before their's because it will show you trying to log in from Japan or wherever, when they know you live in {insert your location here}.

@yngve, in other words, Vivaldi teamed up with Proton VPN, knowing that it is a tease to get people to buy-in to a Proton VPN that allows the user to change or select a country even though being in the USA and being rejected by a USA website because it appears I am in Thailand or somewhere else. There is no way to choose somewhere in the USA if running Proton VPN in the USA, or elsewhere. In which case, Proton VPN on Vivaldi is not for me.

I am able to stream AFTER logging in, and it is easy to turn it off and on. The server blocked was Seattle, the one I am on now that is streaming is Miami. Since I brought it up, I'll troubleshoot it too 🙂

@Ruarí did you see the text inside the brackets? maybe i didnt make it clear, the problem isnt that im trying to use both or only system wide. Im trying to say dispite the state of system wide, the extension doesnt work....
ie
System wide VPN ON: extension ON -> Doesnt work in vivaldi
System wide VPN ON: extension OFF -> Works
System wide VPN OFF: extension ON -> Doesnt work
System wide VPN OFF: extension OFF -> Works

ie... Extenstion VPN doesnt work...
Additiional Information: While i dont think proton is banned in my country, my current network does restrict it, however i can use the systemwide no issues, and extension says its protected / connected, yet when i try to load any webpage it immediately throws error -> No Internet page

You have to activate it, clicking on the button just add the extension.
