I treat them as one in the same. I have a many, many speed dials. I'll swap one folder to another to make it my speed dial page. I would take any option, but this seemed like it would be simple to implement anyway since the mechanism is mostly there, just needs another option beyond saving to a file and copy paste. 🙂

I've figured out that root folder for file_mapping.json is same as for the "Out of Box" thumbs.

Looks also like path traversal is forbidden...

The only posibility to make thumbnails more flexible that comes to my mind is creating hardlinks between folders... 😕

@ivobrankovik There's no official way to revert.

I tried posting about this earlier, because of my frustration with Twitter making tab thumbnails pretty much worthless.

How about the simple option of manually refreshing the tab thumbnail with a right click??

The sizing could also reuse the system used for speed dials (tiny|small|default|large|huge) if a free resize (chosen pixel size) is too much problematic.

Updated the implementation to work on latest stable ( 2.3.1440.41), now it shows favicon as well.

Just want to add that this would be really nice to have, I've got several computers/laptops and then my phone and having to manually apply all those icons is a major PITA.

So +1 on this feature.

@Pesala Windows also does it the way OP mentioned: on hovering the THUMBNAIL and THUMBNAIL alone does it show the full screen preview. I think this feature would boost productivity by a lot; oftentimes, one doesn't intent to switch tabs, just peek the contents of one, plus with my auto MRU sorting of tabs, clicking on an unwanted tab has huge consequences...

This is a nice feature and could be included in a more general Tab Management improvements as suggested here.
