@RichardHC great question 🙂
It's not available yet but feel free to vote for this feature request which covers most of your request: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/24529/graphic-tools-in-screenshot-feature/
I am already using ifranviews batch/converting tool for this to tag a bigger amount of pics at once but it would be more convenient if I could skip this step.
Of course I am aware of the fact that the possibility of this feature to be implemented is close to zero but who knows - if you don't try you can't win ; )

I think there needs to be some control to define how much to resize screenshots. There are a lot of different monitor resolutions that might be called High Resolution from 1600x1200 upwards. Then users can have their monitor set to portrait too.
Half size won't suit all users. Perhaps a simple field "Resize width to" ?
Considering the most frequent use case (you want to share your screenshot as quickly as possible through Skype or other similar apps, perhaps a predefined maximum size (the number of dots in each direction) may be a good choice.
You take a screenshot on Vivaldi. If the actual size is larger than the predefined maximum, Vivaldi would automatically resize it---something like this.
I will report the bug for the floating panel. But, the not floating capture, that was my error. I didn't notice that the screen was resized and the image, being displayed tiled with the panel, had the right side scrolled off horizontally and thought it was clipped. It was not clipped.
There's a limit in captures of 30000 pixels. Is there anything I could do to surpass this limit?
Well, there is a feature request to increase it - you could vote for that 😉
I treat them as one in the same. I have a many, many speed dials. I'll swap one folder to another to make it my speed dial page. I would take any option, but this seemed like it would be simple to implement anyway since the mechanism is mostly there, just needs another option beyond saving to a file and copy paste. 🙂
I like this! There is room for another button beside the select area button. If you always take a screenshot of the same area it is tedious to have to drag select the area each time.
To make it even more sweet when you hover over the last area button the selected area could be highlighted and clicking on the button will take a screenshot and close the capture dialog. So no need for an extra click on the camera icon as it could be obscured by the capture dialog.
Oddly, when capturing a page from the Tools menu, the screen shot is always saved as PNG, not JPG.
(VB-34841) Save Capture to File from Menu Always saves as PNG
PNG is usually better for pages of text, and high quality JPG is overkill for thumbnails of pages that are mostly images. It might be better not to have to choose, but just to use whichever format is set for capture full page.
I don't see any screen capture when copying text to a note, unless I click the camera ion. Then the screenshot always seems to be a standard size in pixels, independent of the page size.

I to have the issue in Linux (2 different distro's). It would be helpful to have a checkbox in Vivaldi settings to enable/disable the feature all together. If I save several screenshots in succession, I get a new file manager pop up for each of the saves. It starts being unproductive real fast. Being able to turn this off would really help! Thanks!!
there is already a screenshot mechanism, with the insertion of a PNG image directly from the clipboard. It already works, without editing. Already half the work is done. But a naked picture is often useless.
Of course, for a programmer to set the task of "a graphic editor" is a difficult task.
For sure, there are open codes of simple editors. In fact, only 2 functions are needed: text and line (squares and circles are near). may be a choice of colors, or red (default). That's it, no more. A lot of work.
Of course, there are a million external apps, no need to offer ShareX. Everyone can handle it on their own, if it's slow and hard. Text and lines are needed in Vivaldi.
