@Gregor Currently, right-click menu, Open in background tab works. Ctrl+Click is used for making multiple selections, so that cannot do both jobs. Middle-click would be useful for those with a MMB.

@svguss ah, yes, it also has a "by date and site" grouping. That would be far more useful:

I didn't delete the closed tabs list manually but after I typed "vivaldi://restart" in address bar, the 'Session only' seems to work.
Maybe the 'Startup with' setting doesn't matter?

Thank you. I did not know that. Your first answer wasn't very clear. For someone who claims to "love to dig" I didn't dig very far. Also, the video did not cover my request even though what I was looking for already exists. The video only went so far. Just not far enough.

I have seen this too, just thought I was going crazy; its not all but some that disappear. I am pretty sure its the sync that is the culprit, as I have seen this happening in FF during its infancy with sync.

This sometimes annoys me when I lost a session and and I remember where are the tabs due the date. Currently, I need to open in background all the tabs I want instead one by one, and sometimes are an amount of them, what makes the browsers a bit slower trying open them at the same time depending the number. Could have an option to prevent the current behavior at least for a minimum time and then the history is updated.
