Thank you. I did not know that. Your first answer wasn't very clear. For someone who claims to "love to dig" I didn't dig very far. Also, the video did not cover my request even though what I was looking for already exists. The video only went so far. Just not far enough.

I have seen this too, just thought I was going crazy; its not all but some that disappear. I am pretty sure its the sync that is the culprit, as I have seen this happening in FF during its infancy with sync.

This sometimes annoys me when I lost a session and and I remember where are the tabs due the date. Currently, I need to open in background all the tabs I want instead one by one, and sometimes are an amount of them, what makes the browsers a bit slower trying open them at the same time depending the number. Could have an option to prevent the current behavior at least for a minimum time and then the history is updated.

Thanks for the replies. I was launching straight into private mode, but I think I'll stick to regular mode. I really love the fact that I can purge history and cookies after each session.

Even better is a mouse gesture. I use GestureLeft for History Back and GestureRight for History Forward.

Sadly this is not fixed at all. I was using Wikipedia this morning and the pop-down search history has returned. They look like old items from maybe six months or a year ago that I searched, so I assume I changed my search history setting that long ago but it only stopped recording new history after that but is still showing history prior to changing the setting? This is just a guess. It's very frustrating.

Is there a local file I can delete?

I definitely want the ability to sort all combined history by date/time. And all entries need an indication of the source - a custom icon, or maybe first letter of the machine name... Sorting and filtering by source machine is less important to me, as long as it is easy to spot the source icon, but would be handy sometimes.

It doesn't look like history items have padlocks any more.

Bookmarks still mis-align things. I fixed that with a css mod:

.history .tree-row .url svg { position: absolute; left: 0; }

I agree, this would be useful. Private windows are fine for most scenarios, but sometimes I want to be cookied on a site without generating a ton of history entries, or on a site for which I know I don't need a history, like hitting my nextcloud calendar in a browser all day.

I also agree that the recent introduction of history syncing makes this feature request more desirable.

It's actually possible to hack vivaldi into doing this, by fake-loading the chrome pages which vivaldi then overrides. You can end up with something that looks like this:

But of course, it's a hack and is not permanent. It does look a lot nicer though.
