@jane.n, certainly it's not recommended to use animated themes on low end PCs, because some gifs can occupy a huge amount of Megas. If someone anyway want an animated background, best for it are those with few frames and simple graphics with few colors. Also animated Pixelarts are valid, best are with seamless loops, because jumping animatios in every loop could result somewhat annoying. Some time ago I found a hugh amount of very nice animated backgrounds pixelart, taken from old classic fighting games, which are very valid to use as homepage in Vivaldi, without occupying a lot of memory (< 300 KB). As pixelart they also don't get blurry resizing these. https://imgur.com/a/fighting-gifs-GPlx4 In the past I used eg. this one. [image: MceRKi.gif] Also nice [image: uzPa7B.gif] The drawback is, they may have copyright, not a problem for personal and private use, but not for sharing in the Vivaldi theme catalogue Alternatively, searching in Pixabay, these images are free to use (mostly GPL or CC license) and can be shared in the Vivaldi Thene Catalogue.

For forum authentication FIDO2 got a update by our web team. ️2FA works now with my Nitrokey 3 NFC. Please test with you hardware keys which did not work before. If you encounter a issue where you can not add your hardware key, please create for product "vivaldi, net webite & services" a bug report and mention your hardware key in report.

@3dvs said in View rated themes: @jane-n suppose we download a theme without being logged in, (and rating requires log in) , will the theme be associated with my rated themes if I rate it later? It doesn't matter when you rate a theme, all that matters is that you have rated it.

I would like to write here what I have already written on 'Vivaldi Mastodon', in the 'Fediverse'. https://social.vivaldi.net/@Vivaldi/113486908261181451 "Thanks to you for creating this Vivaldi 'Mastodon' instance. Thanks to you that you have created a 'Vivaldiverse' also through the 'Fediverse'. That you strive every day to make the web, the world a little better. @jane-n The new "Community Member Spotlight" can now also be found further down on https://vivaldi.net. I liked the old one better because it could be commented on and was retained when something new came along.

Nice article, well written. A very fitting idea to introduce female Ambassadors here. Special thanks to the Ambassadors who got involved. About 15 - 20 years ago, I believed that we would have a balanced ratio of women and men today in interests and professions. As in 'nature', 50% of the world's population are women, . But in fact we are still a long way from even 1/3. We continue to experience this in many areas. Even here in the forum and among the Ambassadors, women are unfortunately still almost as rare as penguins on the equator. The Vivaldi team has managed to continuously recruit more women over the years. But thousands of years of pronounced chauvinism are not so easy to overcome. That's why International Women's Day is still, unfortunately, very, very necessary. And that's why I think gendering, especially in the German language, is unavoidable. Even if it still sometimes seems a little unusual or shapeless, until the best solutions prevail in a few years' time. It took hundreds of thousands of years for chauvinistic language and consciousness to develop. Now it just takes a few decades to push these things back and level them out. For me, this is the price to pay. But I think it's well worth it. Studies have shown that gendering clearly creates a different consciousness. Words create worlds.

@frchan You mean, that Vivaldi theme switches to dark if system uses GTK Dark. Not implemented yet.

@johnmc21 Welcome to the "Vivaldivers". Have fun with the browser, in the forum, maybe also on Vivaldi's 'Mastodon' instance social.vivaldi.net And of course with blogging. I'm curious, will have a look. (This is of course not a threat, but an interest.) [image: 1701468648679-4944f456-5fbd-4f12-942d-4988aeb1774e-image.png]

@AltCode now this is simply stunning! OMZ, tis so clever of you, egads! ta bigly fwiw, initially i did a double-take as i made my first attempt to narrow my lhs, coz whoa, it was the rhs pane that reacted. huh? then i realised; prolly my Instance has for whatever stylistic reason flipped the lhs & rhs panes around. i've never used v's Masto Instance before, but to answer my question, i logged into it, & yep, they're reversed. so now my lhs is --rhs-panel-width: 150px;, & my rhs is --lhs-panel-width: 300px;, & all is fine & dandy in the world [apart from all the very many things that are lousy & rotten, ofc ]. many thanks again. unpredictable, unprecedented, unrequited so many very clever peeps here. one would think that whipping up a quick infinitely-nestable tst would be a real doddle. shirley nobody could doubt this?
