Nice article, well written.
A very fitting idea to introduce female Ambassadors here.
Special thanks to the Ambassadors who got involved.
About 15 - 20 years ago, I believed that we would have a balanced ratio of women and men today in interests and professions.
As in 'nature', 50% of the world's population are women, .
But in fact we are still a long way from even 1/3.
We continue to experience this in many areas.
Even here in the forum and among the Ambassadors, women are unfortunately still almost as rare as penguins on the equator.
The Vivaldi team has managed to continuously recruit more women over the years.
But thousands of years of pronounced chauvinism are not so easy to overcome.
That's why International Women's Day is still, unfortunately, very, very necessary.
And that's why I think gendering, especially in the German language, is unavoidable.
Even if it still sometimes seems a little unusual or shapeless, until the best solutions prevail in a few years' time.
It took hundreds of thousands of years for chauvinistic language and consciousness to develop.
Now it just takes a few decades to push these things back and level them out.
For me, this is the price to pay.
But I think it's well worth it.
Studies have shown that gendering clearly creates a different consciousness.
Words create worlds. 😃
