@mossman Since mails can be sent and received, it does not seem to be a block problem.
I just emptied the trash on a trial basis. 1 mail is left (test b1). It was a test mail. It cannot be deleted in any way. Here is a screenshot:

EDIT: I could empty the trash now by reset the filters. After reset of trash filter the trash bin increased from 1 item to 64 again. Then I had to delete them again.

IMO the problem is caused by the filters somehow.

@WildEnte I have now tried your suggestion to rule out some defect in my existing M2 mail accounts.
I exported all received and sent filters to separate mbox files and reimported them into newly created M2 accounts within a new Opera Mail installation, so these are clean.

Still, Vivaldi Mail will only import mails for two accounts, no matter the order in which I import them.. as a group, separately.. after the second account, no more mails are being imported.

As this is buried deep within this thread and is, in the end, a separate issue than the one initially described here I will open a new thread for this.

Two factor being mandated. To be clear I'm not seeing a problem in Vivaldi, I'm annoyed that it's going to be difficult using older or more basic mail clients (like Opera).

Ok. If something looks like a bug according to some users, I think this means there is something wrong, even if this is a desired feature.

What is desired ? To protect some messages from being mistakenly deleted.

My questions are :

why would you protect only sent messages ? why the only view where messages are protected is 'All messages' view ?

My solution :

a new 'protected' tag to disable the delete action. It could be automatically set by using a dedicated filter.

@gmg Appears to be only forward-looking. No older lists are deleted.

And I set it to "all," close Mail settings, reopen them and it is set to ignore list. The "all" setting does not stick.

@wildente Thank you for your help, and sorry for my late reply. Finally I totally deleted my Vivaldi installation, and I started again from scratch. Everything works fine for now.

Small (and final) update.

Turns out it was something with the vivaldi itself. No idea what, but out of curiousity i simply reinstalled the browser and tried again.

Worked like a charm. The only difference with the setup i made was with the trackers and ads, which i put into "no protection" this time around. Just to be "safe".

So, either it was that option, which for some reason didn't update when i changed it in settings first time around, or it was something else, which simply broke and didn't bother informing me about it.

Anyway, problem solved. Thanks again for your time 🙂

@avguste I use 3 gmail accounts, and experience no slowing.
