@wildente Thank you for your help, and sorry for my late reply. Finally I totally deleted my Vivaldi installation, and I started again from scratch. Everything works fine for now.

Small (and final) update.

Turns out it was something with the vivaldi itself. No idea what, but out of curiousity i simply reinstalled the browser and tried again.

Worked like a charm. The only difference with the setup i made was with the trackers and ads, which i put into "no protection" this time around. Just to be "safe".

So, either it was that option, which for some reason didn't update when i changed it in settings first time around, or it was something else, which simply broke and didn't bother informing me about it.

Anyway, problem solved. Thanks again for your time 🙂

@avguste I use 3 gmail accounts, and experience no slowing.

How many do you mean by "too many" tabs?

Well, it's the same idea but i find Geary's method more elegant. A little like postal mail stacked and arranged in chronological order.

Ah OK, you use OAuth, I use app password.
I deleted my Gmail account and try to access again with OAuth but get error messages. A pop up appears for 0.2 second and close, I cant log in.
As I setup the Gmail account OAuth was not implemented, only app pasword.
I knew other user use OAuth, maybe one or the Vivaldi email developer can help you.
My System specs are in my signature, Linux, Vivaldi 5.2.2581.4 .

EDIT: I test this with clean profile on Vivaldi 5.1.2567.49 and OAuth work. Google pop up appear, I have to log in to my Google account, account is added to Vivaldi mail client > ready. Test this with a new profile, please.

Hi!

I can move my E-mail to Archive by pressing the Menu-key on my keyboard (beside right-control) and then pressing 'v' on the keyboard (the underlined character). I can also move an E-mail to another IMAP-map by pressing 'o' etc.

appeared this week after upgrading to v5.1(worked for 1 day), "Login for incoming server failed";
then downgraded to v5.0 (tried 2 version), couldn't add office 365 account anymore

You should not have this inconvenience. However, I would recommend you do the following to make sure.

Clear the cache/history. Type in the address bar vivaldi://restart If the error persists report it here.

I did restart, but it didn't help. Then I manually killed all vivaldi processes and that helped. Perhaps vivaldi didn't close fully (perhaps cos it was updated).

@gmg If cut/paste email to note & cut/paste function to compose blank email is working for you, then I must be doing something wrong but I can 't imagine what. I'll have to go back & try these two functions again.

What I was hoping for with this feature is an offline archive - but alas!... it simply uses "archive" folders on online mail servers... d'oh!

@rungrung ok today I ran into the same thing and I realize that the workaround via IMAP works nicely for one mail account, but not for the 3 from more than 10 years ago.

@gmg I have tried to fiddle with copying the mail folder over, the MailDB file and MailDB-journal. What about that extension folder with the unspeakable name?

For a while I was thinking of "just" creating a bunch of symlinks from Linux to the corresponding Windows Vivaldi mail files and folders, but since I don't know all of which I need and which problems might be caused, I gave up. So I agree with @Rungrung: please add a Vivaldi -> Vivaldi mail import for us dual booters.

Well, as I'm not planning to move to M3 yet I'll keep the ghost label and see if fixed by some update....

@iron_storm It would be worth checking with extensions off, and maybe even under conditions that do NOT create an OOM situation. I always run with tons of available RAM, so I may not be able to replicate your situation.

OK so there's something new on Vivaldi 5.1. IMAP connection encountered an error! Error: Unexpected \x00 at position 10885. No idea what this means.

update 09 June 2022: finally on Vivaldi 5.3 with Mail 1.0 it all works, so let's just hope Vivaldi Mail will manage to show attachments as previews someday but it's still usable
