@WildEnte
that's a good point about a full archive. i use a filter to put sent items together with received. in evolution, i just discovered that i don't really need the filters because i can ask for reply items to go into the same folder.
i'm going to think about your flags idea combined with searches. i use the latter, but haven't used the former in combination ... yet!
@felagund said in When changing views, Vivaldi often does not jump to the top:
Often, when I go from Unread or another view to either All, Received or Sent mails, the view does not start at the top with the latest email but a few or many emails below top, so I have to scroll to the top. Does this happen to anybody else? Is it a bug? It is highly annoying, actually.
So I posted a feature request: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/56727/when-entering-a-view-add-an-option-to-always-go-to-the-top
@Gwen-Dragon said in Receiving emails disturbingly displayed in color:
@stardepp You use in Mail UI settings to inherit colours from Vivaldi UI theme?
Darker themes + Vivaldi Mail = Issue.
Known bug.
No, I use black / white:

I can confirm that this error only occurs with dark themes. In light themes, such emails are displayed correctly.
@gmg said in Vivaldi Email client stopped working:
But if you want to fix it before then you can delete the db to reindex things (note this doesn't work if you have a POP3 account)
The db is here
-- Storage/ext/mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/def/IndexedDB/
This appears to have worked. In that directory were two files, indexeddb.blob and indexeddb.leveldb I deleted both and started Vivaldi, and mail synced immediately. THANKS!
@luetage Thank you! In the newest version of today (.36) it happened that the hotkey Shift + Del was working again. Somehow, after browser restart or so.
Good idea to check it with D or Alt+D next time!
Issue closed: I forgot I had to use a specific "app password" to use third party e-mail clients (Vivaldi, in this case) with my Yahoo mail account.
Yahoo mail needs two different passwords: the web password (used also in Yahoo mail client) and the a different password (called, app password) that needs to be used with third-party clients, but I was trying to use Vivaldi with the former.
My fault...
@WildEnte said in Offline storage of old IMAP messages:
@mossman Ah. I understood that you didn't want them to ever cross Vivaldi's trash. Those mails carry the trash flag, so that's where they are.... I believe I have read somewhere that archiving accounts are considered, until then: what happens if you undelete one of those emails that are in Vivaldi's trash? I would assume they go back to received and sent, but I'm not sure if Vivaldi also uploads a copy to the IMAP server, making them reappear?
Good idea - so I tested...
They get uploaded back to the server.
In Vivaldi and K9 (on my phone) they appear on the original dates, but weirdly the Hotmail webmail gives the time they are uploaded as a new timestamp. Confusing!
So to answer my original post: seems easiest just to delete the trash in Vivaldi and use Opera to look up old mails.
The bug reports are very useful and great to get work started (Just takes a while to finish a fix).
@ltgorm is actually getting all these cases fixed at the moment, and just about to push fixes. π
It's of course nice to have some answers here too in case others are running into the same issue. Some bugs like this one have temporary workarounds, so makes sense to ask if you're stuck.
That's why I'm popping in to check on whether I can help with something π₯³
@Crimsonshade said in Sharing mail account across Snapshot/Stable:
Being able to sync my email accounts and feeds is something I'd love as well.
Especially feeds!
I don't mind spending a little time setting up a couple of mail accounts for each device, and then they can happily sync messages through IMAP (for the various laptops) or download & delete old messages through POP3 (for the desktop).
The thing I most want to actually sync is feeds (and I've been saying this for years) since I should open Vivaldi on any device and see only new RSS/atom messages - not hundreds I've already read on another device.
Of course, Vivaldi first has to stop fetching multiple copies of news I've already read on just ONE device, but that's another bug entirely... π
