Solved GMX account problem
-
Just upgraded V to 5.3.2679.68 on my Win 7-64 machine and am trying Mail again. I added my Zoho.com account just fine but my GMX.com account can't login.
The Connection Security box under incoming server is "grayed out" (why?)
The Connection Security box under outgoing server is "StartTLS" (the other choice gives an immediate error)
The error is:
the POP server did not reply to command: "QUIT" after 60000 ms
I know that GMX's recent requirement of at least TLS 1.2 caused many problems for people with older emails programs or operating systems but my system logs into GMX just fine with other email programs
Any ideas on how to fix this?

I just retried to setup the GMX act again, using exactly the same settings, only this time it worked!
Another mystery "fixed' but not explained...

No ideas ??
Anyone have Mail working for a GMX account with Win 7-64 ?

@kosmonaut Have you tried a forum search for GMX?

Yes, and there's nothing there that relates to this issue.

Hi, I have a test account on GMX but on gmx.net which is gmx.de.
If I setup pop with [email protected] I get the same error like you but if use [email protected] it work.
No idea about gmx.com but it work with the automatic setup in Vivaldi:Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Just to clarify. You are using an [email protected] account. The server settings go to gmx.net, see picture.
@kosmonaut All GMX accounts ([email protected], [email protected], etc.) use these same server settings.

@mottenmouse
Yep, I use [email protected] as my account name, then I got the"QUIT" after 60000 ms
error. It was a bit strange to me have a different account and server domain.
I don´t use GMX, test account from years ago.Cheers, mib
