@hstoellinger I think you misunderstood the explanation from that link. The comment itself is not marked in any special way - it's the part of the original message that gets highlighted. It works similarly in Vivaldi Mail, Thunderbird, and other popular e-mail clients.

@Shoham Try the following. Right click over the unread view go to advanced in the menu and click "ReRun Filter for this Folder". I'm guessing the unread message does not exist and this step should update the viewed numbers. At least for me it helped before.

In the meantime, an item filtered on TO:address did not move item to proper folder.

@gudmundurg74 i reinstalled vivaldi a week ago, and this started happening

i don't care about mail, but i do care about my rss feeds

now they are all gone, or are they? if i search in mail, it still shows how many results there are, but it doesn't show the results themselves

i deleted that folder, and it still shows results, and the permanent message in the status bar is gone... just kidding, it's just changed from "opening mail db" to mail client starting"

what should i do next? thanks

As I am reading here:

so I didn't enabled anything about deleting from server, so I suppose my emails will not be deleted

@bk2020 That's weird. Haven't seen any similar change here. They have been warning us that app password is going to be disabled and everyone will have to change to OAuth. I haven't done so yet, but I did used to run gmail through M3 using OAuth, and it worked fine.

@jane-n There's a lot going on with that help page. I just want a simple to do on what and how about adding my Gmail account. I added my account here in the past and had to delete it because I was getting duplicate email, and mail that is or was on the server from 2016. 😐 So I am going to try this again because I really am not trying to use multiple email servers when all I need is one to read all of my emails.

No, you can only hide custom folders but not mails that are filtered or labeled or in certain accounts. M2 did that but it also leads to some added complexity.

With filters you could probably add one that has NOT (criteria of another filter)

I was not referring to the labels in the message itself, but I can imagine that there as well some order might be welcome.

@s_paternotte I'm not an expert, but as far as I know labels (which is not a standardized term in IMAP) are message state indicators which can be freely defined by email clients. The RFC speaks of Flags (among them Unread, Deleted etc.) which are standardized, and keywords, which can be defined by the mail client. These flags are not added to the message source but are metadata connected to the ID of the message.
