Solved V 6.7 | Context Menu | Rollback Font / Size
-
@SkyBorg Removing or blocking though. Changing underlying stuff needs to be proven by their actions in the cases like this one, and from what I read they won't or can't do it. In the bigger picture they can't fork Chromium so basically they are perpetual "slaves" to it.

The update to V6.7 brought other browsers touchscreen UI with it. There is a compact menu option I found but that doesn't fix other UI elements such as the close all windows dialog box.
Is there anyway to disable this UI garbage?

Where is the proper place to give feedback to Vivaldi to not continue like this?
Here sounds right https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/97175/vivaldi-boosts-performance-with-memory-saver-and-auto-detects-feeds-with-its-feed-reader

This change is dumb. The menus and UI should be based on the native OS configuration. I have everything configured in my OS for my already bad eyesight. If I wanted things to be bigger, I'd tell my OS that in any case. The new menus are so utterly huge they don't fit on my ultrawide monitor.
- Just counted, 20 menu items is the max I get now. This is absolutely awful.

In the latest version of Vivaldi, 6.7.3329.17, Vivaldi has the same context menu (right-click anywhere) as Chrome. It is not a step forward. This menu is better looking, but it requires much more cursor movement because there are so few commands in a large space, and commands are stretched too much, they have 2-row spacing.
If I wanted this kind of context menu, I'd use Chrome. You had better bring back the old context menu, with much more options, and with less cursor movement we must have to use it. It is a big step backward for Vivaldi.

When I upgraded to Vivaldi 6.7, I noticed that the text size for the main menu, bookmarks menus, and right-click menu had changed. Now, instead of being the same as every other application on my computer, it's larger. Is there a way to change this? I find it very annoying, especially as it means that the right-click menu is large enough that I need to scroll to get to what I want practically every single time.

Hi, search for "compact" in the settings search field.

The laziness of the users is the last straw. The solution to the "problem" is in the second post and users have asked the same question 25 times.
Don't be lazy and start reading a thread from the beginning.

I'm merging the New Topics here.
AFAIK,
They has to be notified about the merged Topic. But,
They are not even looking at the 2 latest pages of recent Topics, nor searching about that before post. -
@Zalex108 All subforums simply need this little change:

@Zalex108 The problem throughout all these (10) years is the Main Page of course, nobody understands he/she should click on "Desktop" as long as he sees his OS underneath. It is perceived as a general Header/Title.
οΈ A quick mock-up about how it could be made more understandable...

What a bizarre name for the flag to fix this.
chrome://flags/#customize-chrome-side-panel
Doesn't seem to be related at all but it fixes the horrible new UI.
Now just a way to revert the font rendering back to how it was.
-
It would be mentioned at the Forum SubForum.
But,
On FR, with clear steps, it happens, many times the same. -
@BunxBun well fyi you 'll have max 2 months time with this one if V doesn't fix it, after that it will vanish and the new one will be the default.

It seems that a change occurred with the last update. When I right-click in a Vivaldi window, all the entries are spread out with excessive vertical spaces between the them. What this means is two things: first, I can't see all the entries in one glance, and second, I sometimes have to scroll through the menu to see the item I want. Right-click menus should always be compact to make them efficient.
Why have the developers made this change? How can I send them a message?

@CalebM All was answered in this current thread. Please read it.

I selected Compact but I am seeing no difference. Do I have to restart Vivaldi?
Okay, I restarted Vivaldi, but the right-click menu is only slightly more compact. They could compact it much more if they wanted to.

Thanks a lot. It works.
I am glad that Vivaldi team has found a workaround to the issue.
I don't know what chromium devs were thinking when they created and approved this change. Will just hope that either they will be forced to revert changes by community, or at least that the workaround will keep working. Using this new style menu is a real pain.Personally, my opinion is that the developers of programs do not use their own programs.
