Blank page shown on some web sites

Anyone that comes across the issue again, please do the following.
Go to vivaldi:gpu (just type it in the addressbar), use the copy to clipboard option and use a service such as pastebin to either paste the result here or DM me instead (so I can forward the information to a dev that is looking into this issue)

Hi, I tried to reproduce it with 100+ tabs several tab stacks and two windows but cant.
I could confirm another report: Bookmark Bar Drag and Drop Issues.

see the same issues mostly on stackoverflow, microsoft and github. However thats simply because a lot of search results end up there. So i don´t think its dependant on the target page

most times (will get back to this) i have the issue when coming from a google search. As written by others copying the url from the blank page and open a new tab manually, pasting it will 100% avoid the issue and lead to a successfull load

i have this issue right now with following a link from Vivaldi Forum to a github page

i have one open github page in the background from an older Vivaldi session which is currently hibernated. Now i closed this old tab instantly i can reproduceable use the github link from Vivaldi forum perfectly fine now

the old github tab i had open is certainly a tab that was created following a google search result
So i completely agree that it has something to do either with hibernated tabs of the same site.
Not sure if google search result is involved or not. Because wile i see search results often bringing me to this situation i also have to say that its likely i will alread have an open tab in the background hibernated from an earlier visit to that site.Short conclusion for me currently:

Happens with links to the same site as an existing hibernating tab from older sessions.

Google search might or might not be involved as an initial trigger. It might just appear as such because i often will come from there but in many (all?) cases an open old tab exists from the target so it could be missleading as a cause.

I finally could reproduce it, Vivaldi 5.6.2867.58, Windows 11 Pro 22H2. 150+ tabs, several tab stacks, hibernating background tabs and enabled lazy loading.
As @Bender mention I guess it is caused by using hibernate.
I could not reproduce it ever with lazy loading disabled and not hibernated tabs.
It happen on a google search result link but not with the usual suspects.
If somebody can report it again to the bug tracker I can confirm it internally.
Iirc all bug reports are closed as "Cant reproduce", which I understand, I need days to reproduce it because I start Vivaldi with one tab in the morning and close it with one tab in the evening. No hibernating and lazy loading needed.Cheers, mib

because he actually posted about the hibernation thing earlier and i only went and confirmed it in my browser based on his posting. I might not have arrived at that conclusion on my own at all.

Add Fandom wikia and Reddit to the list of affected sites. I'm experiencing this issue too. I just found this thread so I'll try turning off Hardware Accel for now.

Hello, I've been having this issue often, but with hardware acceleration disabled. I also tried the ignore blacklist flag and didn't notice any change.
I'm usually running 50+ tabs with many of them hibernated.
I see this most often in a new tab when searching google by shortcut from the address bar, and in that case typing in google.com in the same tab fixes it. Just now I typed in google.com directly in the new tab and got the blank page. I'll also see this often when typing in maps.google.com in a new tab.

Why are you all using google search? Do you enjoy getting tracked? Just as a reminder, you can use https://www.startpage.com for 1:1 Google results without the profiling.

@mib2berlin Of course you don’t, because there is no tracking and therefore Google can’t target you. And it is not ot, because users have been posting all over this topic the blank page thing happens with Google search.

I thought it shouldn't matter which search engine a user uses, it should just work. -
@mib2berlin This is true, but there is zero reason to use Google search. There are a ton of search engines out there which will give you comparable results without the crap.
