Close Duplicate tabs button
-
Like anyone else, I enjoy having a lot of tabs open. Which Vivaldi makes easy and effective.
But sadly old habits stay and I forget to press F2 far too often which results in me having multiple Twitter homepage tabs, YouTube homepage tabs, etc. open.
Thus I think Vivaldi could use a "Close Duplicate tabs button".
This might be easier said than done as for some tabs you wouldn't want to close them, even if they are a duplicate. Just to give an example from my workflow:
I frequently have a google document opened in 2 different tabs, one of them in a tab-tiled tab-stack to help me add information to a Miro-board, and the other to help me check the definitions of done in Jira and going back and forth evidencing those DODs with effective screenshots.I suggest the "Close Duplicate tabs button" should have 2 options:
-
"Close all but one", this will do exactly what you'd expect, closing all tabs from X web-address (with the option to specify FE only the homepage) and giving you a choice which tab to keep open (to make sure the tab stacks stay organized)
-
"Close all but X", this will give you more options in which tabs to close, I think the best option for this would be a list of all tabs open from X Web-address with tick-boxes next to them and a "close selected tabs" button in the bottom right of the prompt. Additional information about each tab can be added to the list items in dropdowns, giving you information like: "other tabs in the same tab stack", "date of opening this tab" etc.
I really hope I've made this idea clear in this forum-post, if there are any uncertainties with what I described in my (way too brief) "feature breakdown" please feel free to contact me on this forum, on twitter (@ricovisscher) or on discord (The Juicy Taco#7032)
To close: thanks for making the best browser out there, I'm already excited for the next update! Keep being awesome!

@ricovisscher There are already requests for this feature, though they suggest a menu item rather than a button.

@Pesala I didn't realize it had already been suggested! Will be more thorough with my searches next time especially thanks to the links you added!
btw those links might also be useful to the person running the Vivaldi twitter account, they had about the same luck as I did
