Any way to get automatic page translation?
-
It is about licensing issues. Vivaldi would have to pay to include this.
The simplest solution is to add a web panel for translation, and copy/paste text into that.
Bing Translate will accept a URL of the page, and opens the translated page in a new tab.

@tantonodavid @Pesala
Yes Pesala, and because DeepL is by far the best translation tool, I added DeepL translator as a web-panel.
To get it more conveniant my son wrote a script for it.
You can find it in my german thread about it (and you have it to translate). -
there is open-source alternatives such as apertium. I think these options can be looked into.

I reply to MarsjaninTK: You unzip the source and it is now in its own folder. Move that folder anywhere you want just as long as you do not delete it. I prefer to put it in user/appdata/roaming/vivaldi/application. Now open Vivaldi and go to extensions and make sure to enable "Developer Mode" via the slider in the top right corner. Now click on "Load Unpacked" and select the folder. Now it's installed and it works perfectly. I have been wanting to use Vivaldi fulltime but the lack of a translator was a deal breaker. I have tried every extension on the playstore and none work with the current release of Vivaldi. This extension was the final missing piece and should be linked by the Vivaldi team since its not in any official store. I am not alone in not using Vivaldi because of foreign language websites.

@dotnetnightmare Thanks for this, and I agree with you there. If they don't have the funds to spare for this great feature from Chrome, they should get in contact with the creator of this project. This was exactly what I was looking for.

@TrickSt The current Vivaldi Snapshot has a webpage translator, so it shouldn't be too long before it comes to stable.

@nomadic That's great news, I'll see if it'll have an option to translate in the context menu as well, as that's mainly what I'm more comfortable with.
