Solved Option to Mute Web Panels
-
Add the option to actively mute the sound on the web panels.
For example, if you have a Facebook Messenger in the web panel, new messages are announced with audio. The only way to mute them is by turning the speaker off or in the sound settings.

Not quite the only way ā closing the web panel also mutes the sound, at least it does on YouTube videos. Does that work for you?

Nope, the Messenger play sound always
at least it does on YouTube videos.
Only if you have activated Mobile version of a Web Panel, if you use a Desktop version, the sound still plays also after closing a panel

This request is internally under VB-32666

Would be pretty good to have this option added!
Web panel is amazing for the messengers, but somethings they get a little annoying with the notification sounds. Thanks!
-
Sorry, I know this is an old post, but something new about mute web panels? Messenger sound is very annoying
Is there a option for this in Vivaldi?
-
@elspivo At the bottom of the web panel, there are controls for zoom, inverting the colors, killing the panel, mute the sound, and search the text. Just click the speaker icon to mute.
-
@bonetone No. You use a mod for this.
-
@potmeklecbohdan What mod?
-
-
@BoneTone is this still the case or not on all platforms or am I missing something?
-
@dingus9 as @potmeklecbohdan pointed out & linked, I have the mod which provides those controls. I'd just had it so long I'd forgotten it was a mod. Mods are cool like that, unlike the vast majority of extensions, they just seem to be a part of Vivaldi's native functionality. Which they kind of are. Instead of adding an external piece, you're changing internal parts.
-
@BoneTone Well, even a mute option in form of bottom toolbar (as the mod) would nice
-
The mod seems awesome. Why not integrate it directly Vivaldi team?

The Vivaldi team is small, especially compared to other browsers, so they don't hang out on the forum reading every thread and can't be expected to read a post to any random thread. I mention this just to set your expectation on not getting a reply.
About integrating it into Vivaldi, I've said this in the past about various mods. Sure it would be great if every good mod was directly integrated into Vivaldi. But, given resources are limited, and users can have this functionality by way of the mod if they want it, Vivaldi's resources are probably better spent on other things. Integrating any available mod isn't a simple a just copy & pasting the code into Vivaldi's source.
