Well, another of life's mysteries! Last night before going to bed I checked again and Whatsapp would not start with UAS disabled but then worked again when enabled. This morning UAS is not needed. Whatsapp works with or without it. Laptop is always on but no overnight updates and nothing else changed as far as I can see. Go figure!

@Komposten Thanks for your suggestion
I tried spoofing as Chrome from the developer tools but then (while in developer mode) I got something about allowing third party cookies. When I cleared cookies and tried again in a normal window I still get the message about unsupported browser. Hmm...
Hat funktioniert @Gwen-Dragon. Vielen lieben Dank dafür. 🙂
Jetzt interessiert mich, ob die vom Game-Support auch davon wissen. Ziemlich merkwürdig das Ganze.
Beste Grüße

@greybeard said in Browser stopped working for Bell TV Fibe:
My Fibe TV app on my old iPad2 also works fine.
[EDIT] At least it will work until tomorrow (Nov, 1th) as the iOS cannot be updated and it will probably burst into flames because it can no longer tell the time and think I am halfway around the world. 😉
@Ayespy said in skype web call support?:
I wonder if each of you have the desktop Skype app, and allow it to be signed in. That appears to be an essential ingredient to Vivaldi being able to negotiate Skype.
I tried to install Skype app from MS Store, no change. Also i installed desktop app from Skype website and still no change in Vivaldi. I have no more ideas. I'll just use the desktop app.
@simonwhite try registering again. Also you may try deleting all tempt internet files, free crunchyroll premium, password and content .hope you find this information helpful. Do revert me is this information is helpful to you.
@Gwen-Dragon
Thank You for your steps!!
Unfortunately I cannot seem to get it to work. Actually the page displayed by shopify for a very brief moment says I am running on Chrome, then 1-3 seconds later switches to Vivaldi.
So I am unsure how it, at first thinks I am running Chrome, then realizes I am spoofing to chrome?
And also since your instructions state "Chrome 72" maybe I need to change your instructions to the latest stable release of Chrome?
Thanks to anyones help in advance! I am so sick of clicking on shopify to realize I have to use another browser 😞
@fred8615 Update: A few days after I wrote them, the desktop version came back. I was waiting to see if the change would stick, and so far it has. Score one for the little guys! 👌
@allo all data is given to accomodate server side sabotage optimization.
Many sites deliver bad or no content at all if they fail to to determine the (assumed) client feature set.
With luck, they are actually compatible enough to support popular non-Windows-builtin browsers…
A small player called Google (maybe you have heared of them) uses client detection on their services to deliver ever changing site content.
They use a depricated Shadow DOM (v0) interface (where available) since they not yet got arround to optimize for the standardized (v1) version.
The part Vivaldi/1.97. is (in essence) static to accomodate (bad) detection code.
The trailing 1259.3 identifies the actual Chromium version (where needed).
I don't know which request is the worse one (i. e. to be marked as duplicate):
this one
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/29309/use-a-shorter-user-agent-string
I wanted to bump this and add it to the mobile app as well.
Saying to ask the site is in my opinion telling the user to pound sand.
for ex, Samsung will gladly ignore your request. Google will gladly ignore your request. Supporting more browsers that compete against yours is for them, bad business.
In my opinion this is an essential feature to a competitive market that will kill your browser in this way.
I would like to be able to control this setting per tab, maybe with a button like switching to reader view, and therefore be able to stack pages so that I could open the same page side-by-side, one in mobile view and one in desktop view.
Can you imagine how many UI designers would switch to Vivaldi? 😌
Chromium's blog publicly announced the Chrome app deprecation timeframe back in August 2016 with a completion around early 2018... but my guess is that it was almost certainly being discussed amongst chromium developers before August. While the timeframe is not "sudden", it does appear rather short for the rework into whatever form it seems would now be required for a complex 'app' like Vivaldi. I really, really hope Vivaldi's devs can pull off this transition without a lot of grief or functionality loss.
