Create Notes from drag and drop - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.8.755.3
-
@dleon: excuse for my previous reply, I really thank you for the detailed anwer
-
@dleon: thanks.. actually that the want to ask about ok.. may be in the next version...
-
@pesala: Ah. I had the same question as jianaco. Btw, is there a setting to always open links in a new tab on left click?
-
@ryofurue: I kind of like that idea of dragging a link up to the tabbar to open in a new tab.
-
Maybe a SS tomorrow? I'm hoping ...

@nutcracker: Nope. Like passwords, extensions are encrypted and not portable from one unique user ID (user profile on a computer) to another. The data and settings transfer, but not the actual extension. The file content that is the extension is movable, but can't be decoded by a Vivaldi version opened by a different user or on a different machine.
Hmmm, not so fast. I abandoned Windows a few years ago & so don't doubt you're correct for that. But in Linux, i routinely copy my "active" SS's Default directory to my Stable [sometimes instead the reverse, albeit rarely], & copy from my "real" OS to many varied Linux VMs' V's. The extensions DO survive, fully functional, only the passwords don't.

@Steffie: Hmm - yeah. You could not do that in Windows - nor, I'm thinking, OSX. You can copy all over a single user profile and all is fine. But try another user, change machines, re-install the OS, and no soap. Passwords and extensions are dead.

@Ayespy -- Whispering, roooooooooley quietly here, just to myself, about the yet-again Rulziness of Linux. Shhhhhhhhh.

This snaphot repeatedly causes a cpu-load of 100% with vivaldi snatching every cpu it can get. This lasts for something like 60-120 seconds and then ends by itself and vivaldi drops back to something like 1% or less.
8 tabs open, only one instance of vivladi claims all the power
W7-64
Is this known?

Here it lasts less than 2 seconds!

And this hardly ever happens! Really hard!

You could already do some of that.Drag down any link, a box with title & url will start following you.
Drop the link in any empty space on tab bar area but behind/above the add new tab icon (the plus sign) a small green icon will show up, it will open in foreground tab.
Drop directly on open tab, it will replace the tab content.
This one for me a bit tricky, need about a split milliseconds hovering the tab or tab content before I could drop it.Thank you for the information! Both work on my computer. They are useful.
Both need some polishing, though:
- You can't place the link between two existing tabs.
- The tab bar doesn't scroll while you are dragging the link, so you would first have to scroll it to reveal the "plus" icon before starting to drag the link. (I use the vertical tabbar, if that makes difference.)
And, is there a cheatsheet or some help page that lists all these mouse functions? We have a keyboard-shortcut list and a mouse-gesture list in "Preferences" but I've never seen a list of mouse functions (What does shift+click do, for example?)
Anyone could test dragging with middle mouse button?
This one mine is broken. What would that do? I use the Apple Trackpad, which means there isn't a middle-button drag, I don't think.

Naah, I just also want to know what it will do.
It'll do nothing. You can't drag with MMB.

Nice release. I am using this as my main browser.
I should tell here I love the Vivaldi forum. Very informative, responsive and engaging.
Can you please make the comment section in this page appear from the newest comment or at least give us the option to change.I request the following.
- easier installation of Vivaldi snapshot and Vivaldi to run them simultaneously (by default - not by standalone method)
- Speed dial size adjustment
Both of them I have added in the feature request.
Thanks.

@g_bartsch: Won't be too long(most most likely), but we are working hard on getting the next snapshot out the door

Any explanation?you probably have the old favicon cached, you just have to edit your google entry in search engine settings, the new favicon will be associated

@Aronand
Sounds like "soon".soon
adverb- tea will be ready soon: In a jiffy (-- probably a couple of minutes)
- we'll be there soon: In a short time (-- 15 minutes to half an hour)
- the update will be out soon: Any day now (-- couple of days up to a week)
- this feature is coming soon: Sometimes (-- 2 months to 2 years to never)
