OK so there's something new on Vivaldi 5.1. IMAP connection encountered an error! Error: Unexpected \x00 at position 10885. No idea what this means.

update 09 June 2022: finally on Vivaldi 5.3 with Mail 1.0 it all works, so let's just hope Vivaldi Mail will manage to show attachments as previews someday but it's still usable

By default Mail will indeed open in the first window. But there actually is a trick to moving Mail to another window.
Select all tabs and move them to a new window. The first window with Mail will close, but the new window that opens for the moved tabs will include Mail as well. That's because for a millisecond there was no window with Mail and in case Mail isn't open in any window, it'll be opened in the next window that's opened.

Though, after a browser restart, Mail will go back to the first window.

I do encounter the issue rather frequently, certainly not always, but when it happens it can be rather annoying. And I believe it happens more, but not only after I've Ctrl-clicked a link to open it in a background tab.

And then there is also at least one undocumented action for which a shortcut cannot be set, Ctrl+Z, which can be overridden by the global settings to reopen a closed tab. However, in the context of mail (and calendar) it should just mark a message as unread again if it was marked as read, move it back to where it was before, ...

Yes, I agree it must be that vivaldi.net is either on an anti-spam list, or not on a whitelist. the emails that didn't make it recently went to various businesses, plus gmail plus other general email providers.

I think it is a Vivaldi problem. I've exactly done what you did with this feed:

And after re-adding it, it stopped working at the same item it stopped previously, while Thunderbird is loading new items.

I've at least another feed that is blocked in this way.

How about selecting "Insert note" from the context menu? Unless you want it to be added as an attachment - in which case no, it's not possible ATM.
