Feeds don’t update
-
@mottenmouse Yes, I put the computer to sleep at night, using Win10 x64.
But same happens even after fresh start, prior to going to sleep. There was a bug that periodic reload of tab didn't worked after waking from sleep, but that's fixed now.

this is a bit of a necrobump, but for the n-th time my xkcd.com feed stopped updating (as I now see, the last item is from Nov. 29th, 3 updates have followed since. Coincidence that it stopped at the month's end?).
I wanted to force the update in the settings and - lo and behold - while the feed is in my feeds list in the mail and feed panel (and I can access past downloaded items), it is gone in the newsfeeds account list in settings. No wonder it ain't updating no more....
Any xkcd followers here that can confirm this?

@wildente My guess is you have deleted it at one point. Deleted feeds still show up in the feeds panel and in the mail panel, but will be gone from the feeds settings. That being said, you won’t be able to reproduce this issue on a fresh profile, it happens on dirty profiles.
-
@luetage I buy the dirty profile argument, but there is no way I have ever deleted xkcd, in particular not in the past 2 weeks. A duck has certain principles!
-
@wildente lol
I can tell because the same thing is happening to me too. I have multiple feeds visible in mail which have long been ousted. Can’t get rid of ’em. Could there be a one in a trillion chance that your inner tigergot the best of you and you deleted this feed unwittingly?
-
@luetage well I have deleted the feed last time it stopped working and readded it. Then the updates trickle in as Randall Munroe publishes them, and then at some point they stop coming in again. I'll delete the feed for good now in the panel (since it's not in the settings ...), resubscribe, and then add a recurring reminder in my calendar to check for it to stop updating.
EDIT: or did they change something on the xkcd feed itself? resubscribing I notice that it only goes back 4 cartoons, precisely to the first one that I didn't receive.
I still got https://xkcd.com/2522/ on the 29th of Sept., and now the feed starts with https://xkcd.com/2523/ which was published on Oct 1st. -
@wildente It’s not a problem with xkcd I don’t think. Delete one of your two other feeds, restart browser and check your feeds or mail panel for the feed. If I’m correct, it should still be visible but when you check feed settings it will be gone (and not receive updates anymore).
-
@luetage I deleted the feed via right-click & delete in the panel, it was gone right away and stayed away after restarting the browser. I certainly did not delete the xkcd feed. I find it a bit too coincidental that the feed items stop coming in, and when I resubscribe it only goes back to the time where it stopped. Isn't it nice that something might not be a Vivaldi problem?
-
@wildente I know I can reproduce my issue. We might not have the same issue. All I can say is that I’m subscribed to xkcd and never had problems. Therefore I doubt this specific feed is the kernel of the brute.

I think it is a Vivaldi problem. I've exactly done what you did with this feed:
https://www.ilsole24ore.com/rss/homepage.xml
And after re-adding it, it stopped working at the same item it stopped previously, while Thunderbird is loading new items.
I've at least another feed that is blocked in this way.
