Feeds don’t update
-
Don’t know whether that’s a problem only on my end. I need to either update feeds manually by going to
vivaldi://settings/rss/
and clicking the button, or open a new window / restart Vivaldi to get updates. Feeds don’t respect the refresh interval set in settings. -
@luetage I'm not 100% certain, as sometimes it seems to work, but I have also experienced feeds only updating after restarting vivaldi.
-
@jumpsq Just opened all tabs in new window and got 2 new messages from feeds in. I also noticed that sometimes the feeds appear up to a day after release, but other feeds appear sooner when starting Vivaldi in between multiple times. All intervals are set to 2 hours, so I don’t really know what to make of it.
-
I confirm that.
Feeds are not updating automatically.
Also not updating manually, by clicking on the 'check all' button. Although I don't know if this buttons is related to feeds or only e-mail account.Restarting Vivaldi updates the feeds.
-
@solidsnake The button in the panel says “all accounts,” but I guess only mail accounts. The refresh button in the mailbar says “check for mail.” To me it’s not really clear whether the former is supposed to refresh feeds, but it certainly doesn’t do it right now. Anyway, it’s clear there’s something wrong with automatically updating feeds, reported as
VB-75122
. -
@luetage Yes, that button only checks mail accounts, at least the feeds are not showing any visual clues that are refreshed.
On the other hand there is not another button or option on right-click menu , so as is feeds cannot be even manually triggered for checking.
+1 for the bug report. -
@luetage I've been having the same issue. Very annoying.
-
Seems like works as expected in the last snapshot (3.5.2131.8 (Official Build) (64-bit)).
-
@solidsnake I know I got one feed update without refreshing manually yesterday, but this happened earlier too, before latest snapshot. Not sure whether it’s fixed, I’ll keep an eye on it.
-
@solidsnake At least for me this isn’t solved, I still have to restart browser/manually update. Doesn’t surprise me, the snapshot didn’t mention anything about it.
-
@luetage Yes, definitely not solved. It seemed at first that feeds started updating after the last snapshot. But few days later I can conclude is not fixed, feeds update only after restart of browser. Very rare otherwise.

Do you use the system setting sleep mode?
With Windows 10 and active sleep mode feeds won`t be updated anymore once the PC fallen into sleep mode and waked up.
Bug report: VB-75456 - Feeds don’t update · After wake up PC from sleep mode -
@mottenmouse Yes, I put the computer to sleep at night, using Win10 x64.
But same happens even after fresh start, prior to going to sleep. There was a bug that periodic reload of tab didn't worked after waking from sleep, but that's fixed now.

this is a bit of a necrobump, but for the n-th time my xkcd.com feed stopped updating (as I now see, the last item is from Nov. 29th, 3 updates have followed since. Coincidence that it stopped at the month's end?).
I wanted to force the update in the settings and - lo and behold - while the feed is in my feeds list in the mail and feed panel (and I can access past downloaded items), it is gone in the newsfeeds account list in settings. No wonder it ain't updating no more....
Any xkcd followers here that can confirm this?
-
@wildente My guess is you have deleted it at one point. Deleted feeds still show up in the feeds panel and in the mail panel, but will be gone from the feeds settings. That being said, you won’t be able to reproduce this issue on a fresh profile, it happens on dirty profiles.
-
@luetage I buy the dirty profile argument, but there is no way I have ever deleted xkcd, in particular not in the past 2 weeks. A duck has certain principles!
-
@wildente lol
I can tell because the same thing is happening to me too. I have multiple feeds visible in mail which have long been ousted. Can’t get rid of ’em. Could there be a one in a trillion chance that your inner tigergot the best of you and you deleted this feed unwittingly?
-
@luetage well I have deleted the feed last time it stopped working and readded it. Then the updates trickle in as Randall Munroe publishes them, and then at some point they stop coming in again. I'll delete the feed for good now in the panel (since it's not in the settings ...), resubscribe, and then add a recurring reminder in my calendar to check for it to stop updating.
EDIT: or did they change something on the xkcd feed itself? resubscribing I notice that it only goes back 4 cartoons, precisely to the first one that I didn't receive.
I still got https://xkcd.com/2522/ on the 29th of Sept., and now the feed starts with https://xkcd.com/2523/ which was published on Oct 1st. -
@wildente It’s not a problem with xkcd I don’t think. Delete one of your two other feeds, restart browser and check your feeds or mail panel for the feed. If I’m correct, it should still be visible but when you check feed settings it will be gone (and not receive updates anymore).
-
@luetage I deleted the feed via right-click & delete in the panel, it was gone right away and stayed away after restarting the browser. I certainly did not delete the xkcd feed. I find it a bit too coincidental that the feed items stop coming in, and when I resubscribe it only goes back to the time where it stopped. Isn't it nice that something might not be a Vivaldi problem?
