I also had the problem that not all my Android tabs appear on the Windows desktop version under the cloud icon. Only those that have been "actively open" on Android are to be found...

@cooked It's easy if you set up a different account on your phone from the one you had on desktop. A typo in the username, whatever, but just because you own both devices doesn't mean you are the same person on both devices. 🙂

There are many feature requests for Sync. Browse through the topics, and vote for some.

@Aaron I have similar issues: It is not clear how sync works exactly between 1:n computers and it is not even clear what exact settings are synced and which are not synced. I was puzzled to see for example, that keyboard settings and themes are not synced, but other things are synced which i would not have expected. But all those things are settings. Very confused about those details...

No, such is not implemented. That is the job of your Android device, sad but true.

You had not synced regularly? Then bookmarks and notes are really outdated.

Oh, it looks like the tabs have disappeared! I wonder if this is just a timeout feature, or if it happened because I opened all the tabs on a new device...?
Anyways, problem solved.

This password generator is part of Chromium and not really controlled by the Vivaldi UI. It depends on web site developers creating their registration forms properly, so the browser recognises it's a password input field.

You can for instance bookmark this page, then use it for generating a password:

I just use pwgen, it's much faster to just open a console and generate one on the fly 🙂

@hmazuji You don't log in to the browser. You are never logged in to the browser. Vivaldi has different servers you can log into - the Community server, the Webmail server. and the sync server. All use the same username and password, but they are different servers.

This is a very big lack in Vivaldi - not having full history sync across devices (cell & laptop) undermines much of the benefit of using Vivaldi. Devs, if you read these forums, PLEASE implement this soon.

@guigirl I disagree, he's got a point. The option from the profile button says "create account", not "login or create account". That is confusing! It's not clear that clicking that button will give you the option to create an account.

Silly me, I forgot step 1 of troubleshooting: update!

Updating Vivaldi desktop to the latest version fixed the problem. There are still lingering "duds" in the sync info (which is to say, there are search engine entries in the sync logs for search engines that do not appear in settings), but that's all under the hood and in practice I seem to only be seeing the desired engines on both platforms.
