We’ve rolled out Two-Factor Authentication for Vivaldi accounts and a new reputation system for Vivaldi Webmail access.

This is so needed. Thank you all for making it possible
-
@Team_Vivaldi Why not creating a survey to get information if and which hardware keys or smartphone apps are used for 2FA?
So you will get a direct feedback whats is working and what is not working -
Hey, am I the only HATER of 2 factor authentication? I am a senior citizen, without a smartphone, and as far as I know, I have no other way to 2 factor authentication. I have given up other good services because I have no devices. Why do all companies that have decided to use 2 factor auth assume that everyone has a smartphone?...or some other technology for 2 factor auth? Sorry Vivaldi, I really like you...but I must bid you a sad farewell.
-
@VicB You missunderstand, Two-Factor-Authenticatio is not required nor are users forced to use it!
Just do not activate 2FA (means do nothing in your profile) and use regular password login as before.I do not use 2FA yet, hardware problems on my side.
-
Oh, thank you so much for that information! I really appreciate your writing! I can stay with Vivaldi now!
Have a great day!!! -
@VicB I guess you mean me!?

@DoctorG
Thanks again. I'm coming off of a career in high technology in both the broadcast and medical fields as an engineer. Much of it was cutting edge IT in both fields. I was also a commercial pilot and flight instructor. I turn 70 this year, and sadly, even the simplest of devices have become complex to me. Even a two mile trip to the store sometimes turns into an "I'm so lost" adventure. The golden year are really not so "golden" after all. Stay young DoctorG! -

You'll want to define app passwords for Mail (and Calendar?)
See more details at the help pages: https://help.vivaldi.com/services/account/two-factor-authentication/ -
Thanks! The instructions on the help page sound more complicated than it is. Basically, you just need to replace the vivaldi account password with the new generated app password in the apps that you use. In my case Thunderbird and K-9 Mail. Every app needs its own generated app-password. That's it.
-
I'm unable to activate 2FA. I can log into my account with no problem (as evident by me being able to post this), but when I enter my password to verify my identity after clicking on the button to enable 2FA, I'm told that my password is incorrect.
Have you heard of anyone else having this issue?
-
@eric-chameroy Same for me. I haven't found solution .
-
@pauloaguia I added the key to the list of compatible hardware keys.
-
Vivaldi wasn't even on my radar until a little over a year ago and I have been nothing but impressed ever since. There are still a few things that Firefox does better or I would be a full time user. I genuinely appreciate all the hard work your team puts into your products. Thank you!
-
@tonci-razmilic @eric.chameroy @jan-ripper @Bononi-Gustavo Sorry about that, there was an issue on our end that should now be resolved. Could you please try again?
-
@isak Taanks. It works now.
