The new Vivaldi speeds up your browsing and organizes your schedules with a Tasks Panel.
-
@GCullinan If you click on that, it will offer you the option to browse as a guest. That opens a guest profile.
Your browsing in it will be unaffected by extensions, history, etc. in your regular profile.
-
@Ayespy I can browse in the Guest profile but there is no access to my Bookmarks & mail which is the main problem.
-
@GCullinan This is a test, not an operating basis. If there are no problems in the guest profile, then what is causing the problems is something in your regular profile. It's just an indicator, not a cure.
-
@GCullinan I take it you are running the Vivaldi built-in mail client in your regular profile for at least one account?
Are there years and years, tons and tons of email in this account, or is it just a few thousand relatively recent emails? What is the mail host domain?
-
@Ayespy the browsing experience in the goest profile was smooth enough with no lag.
-
@GCullinan Which means your problem is almost certainly curable without rolling back to an earlier version.
-
@GCullinan Can you let me know what is the situation with your mail account - and whether it is an IMAP account?
-
@Ayespy I have a number of email accounts Telstra is the domain
-
@GCullinan OK. Are they all IMAP accounts in the mail client?
-
@Ayespy They are all imap accounts
-
@GCullinan Good.
So what we are going to do is set you up a new profile in the current version of Vivaldi, with all of your critical data, but NO extensions, and NO email, just yet. Follow the instructions under how to refresh your profile.
-
@GCullinan When you get done with those instructions, you should have a profile with all of your critical data, bookmarks functioning exactly as they ought to, etc., but no extensions and no email so far.
-
@Ayespy Thanks Mate I will follow the instructions & let you know when I'm done.
-
@Ayespy I have rebuilt profile without Extensions & Email. All is relatively Ok although the Bookmarks have a little lag when scrolling

Performance optimizations on address bar. Now the focused line and typed characters in address bar blinks like hell while typing in address bar. I think there was same issue few years ago, when you were optimizing address bar.
I wonder that this passed quality check, it must have been obvious immediately while testing.

Vivaldi one step closer to becoming a whole Operating System.
You could soon start distributing Linux images with just Vivaldi installed. -
@Panino , It's not so far off the mark, there are already two distros with Vivaldi as the default browser (Majaro and FerenOS) and in general the opinions of the Linux communities are quite positive, despite the fact that Vivaldi is not completely OpenSource.
But yes, Vivaldi is more than a simple browser, not an OS (not yet (?)), but a good Internet suite. -
so disappointed this is still not fixed...

@gabey Hover the panel, select context menu and check if you see if Mail Calendar Tasks have a ✓
