So many fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2603.6
-
@pathduck Me too.
-
@joeduffus What operating system?
-
When testing snapshots, I usually have windows using two (or more) profiles open. Of course, each profile has its own settings; Mail (etc.) is enabled in only one...
Closing the window that had Mail doesn't "move" Mail to a (the) remaining window for that profile. No Panel or Status bar indicator appears. And attempting to open Mail from the Vivaldi Menu yields the unexpected result: "Mail is In Another Window"...
Opening a new window "restores" Mail indicators, and all means of opening Mail become available! Peculiar!
update: Quitting and re-launching the browser does move Mail to an open window...

@wildente That’s what I’m experiencing too. What operating system are you on?
Windows 11. I think the behavior is consistent, it just doesn't catch the case where the mail panel is open originally but closed while the mail tab is active. Otherwise the behavior is good I think....
-
In Mail settings something has got mixed up. At least in German:
Some words are not in place. I think I recognized that already before this snapshot. -
@wildente I have already reported it, let’s see what happens.
-
Please make the stacked tabs more visible. With current build I cannot discern which tab shas stacks on.
-
the new tab button context menu doesn't show up with horizontal tab scrolling enabled and sufficient no. of tabs.
(new profile)
is it known issue? -
@juanvase reported VB-87394.

VB-86065 (sudden crash when input field is selected) still occurs. Come on this one is important. I am unable to work with Vivaldi that way. And no, switching to stable does not solve the problem as it occurs there as well...
I am not very happy with Vivaldi's development in the last three years or so. I just opened two more bug reports (different bugs of course) today. When Vivaldi gets better on one end it gets worse on the other. There are constantly bugs re-appearing that often enough affect the very basic browser functions. I am not able to recommend it to anyone as long as I face long standing issues that do not get resolved (well, I often enough did recommend it (stable) and got confronted with bugs where the only thing I could say was "Alright, just install Chrome or Firefox then")...
When I started using Vivaldi with the first public snapshot I would not have believed that seven years from there it would still be difficult to move tabs around or that there would be severe sudden crashes again and again (at least for me).
I know you are working hard on Vivaldi to get it better and better. From my point of view I'd like to see the focus of your work on polishing. Make it rock solid. Otherwise newcomers will drop Vivaldi very fast and won't come back again. -
@ruarí So, no bus today?

Is it possible to add a function to speed up the launch like in edge? The browser simply works in the processes and this noticeably speeds up its launch and the launch of applications as well. I understand that i can just not close the browser, but this is different Thank you.
-
@hermanngrieben It launches in about 2 Sec here. How fast did you want it to launch?
You can, of course, add it to your Windows startup window, so that it starts with the system.
But unlike Edge, Vivaldi is not built in to Windows, so it can't be kept live in the background waiting for you to call it.

I'm having issues with embedded videos, like no image, only a black screen with audio, an example being twitch clips, does anyone confirm? Here a clip: https://www.twitch.tv/esl_csgo/clip/GrotesqueSparklingCattlePJSugar-7TzFAl7YeExj72G6

@soad No problem here. Try changing hardware acceleration in Settings Webpages:
Use Hardware Acceleration when Available -
@pesala: it still didnt work unfortunately, strange that it works normally in chrome and edge.
-
Is there a place one could go to follow up with a specific bug? I'd like to be able to track adding Open Link via custom context menu, as mentioned here, Post 554303 and posted by this user here, Post 559107. I upgraded from stable to this snapshot hoping maybe it had been addressed but maybe it's low on the priorities list? haha, I just want to add a restart option to the File menu. Anyway, thank you all for your work with Vivaldi, definitely still my favorite Browser. Cheers!

@crmsn There is no public bug tracker. You can ask occasionally about your favorite bug(s) here:

I wonder how many more times that question, & this answer, will arise before somehow the forum will have some pinned note declaring this in large friendly purple letters, to stop noobs reliving groundhog day this way.
