Open Link command in customization menu broken
-
I'm not sure at which version it began...
In Settings - Appearance - Menu Customization - Tab Bar, I added a few frequent links to open since I normally have plenty of space there vertically on the left.
Previously when I right clicked on the Tab bar, they would appear in the context menu, and by right clicking any of them, they would be opened in a new tab (like Gmail in the pic)
Now (ver. 5.1.2567.49) if I right (or middle) click Gmail, it will open (reload) the whatever tab is active.Besides I just discovered that when I try to add a new link and enter the address, I simply can't write anything in the address field... this is weird...

@svguss I was able to find the build in which it got broken (both at the same time). Found a report for the second one and reported the other myself. For future reference, it's:
VB-86455: Menu customization, can no longer edit Open Link input field
VB-86937: [Regression] Opening links in new tabs from customized menus broken
-
@pafflick thank you very much, I'd never be able to do this. I hope they'll correct it.

Hello. About a week ago I was trying to add a custom command to the file menu to restart the browser. I added the Open Link command, renamed it to Restart and went to add the URL (vivaldi://restart) and it doesn't actually let me input text in the field. I've tried typing it direct and pasting. It doesn't seem to allow any text at all, only the default text which points to the vivaldi website.
I posted this to the Vivaldi Reddit community first just in case someone might have come across this and found a solution to it but I didn't get any responses, just a few upvotes.
Is this a known problem or is it something that isn't supported at the moment.
Thank you very much for your time. If you need anymore information, I would be more than happy to provide it.
Cheers! -
@crmsn I think that’s known, was working before. For example I got a custom restart menu item in the main menu.

Yeah, I reported the regression in the 4/2 Snapshot topic, unfortunately not fixed before Stable...

@pathduck @luetage Thank you both for your response. I honestly didn't even know this feature existed until I decided to go and organize my menus and saw the Open Link command and got the idea. Hopefully it's not that long of a wait haha, I considered going back to the previous version where it worked but figured just setting up a custom link in the speed dial is okay for now. Funny enough though, if I try to use it through the bookmarks bar, it doesn't work unless I right click > Open. Anyway, thanks again!

Unable to edit Open Link address box in menu customization.
This bug has existed since 5.1. -
@ayhangur Confirmed. The bug is not fixed yet.

Guys, any chance this thing is going to be fixed any time soon?
VB-86937: [Regression] Opening links in new tabs from customized menus broken
It is sort of standard behaviour, to open links in a new tab when they are right/middle clicked. And it was working ok in the beginning. -
@SVGuss
Hi, the bug was reopened in late April, has higher priority but is not assigned to a developer.Cheers, mib

Ok, I decided to install Vivaldi from January this year, where the right click still works, plus this useful css modification works too (later it destroys the appearance of Vivaldi).

@SVGuss
I didn't even realize this bug existed and if you count the answers to this thread not many users either.
It is on the list, there are thousands of bug reports, you have to wait.Cheers, mib
