Is There a Way to Disable Middle-Click Tab Closing?
-
Used to using middle-click to reload tabs in other, non-chrome-based browsers (Firefox, etc.), so this is impeding my flow, and the further option of remapping the button to F5 is my goal and ideal state of functionality.
Looked through Settings, vivaldi://flags, and searched extensions with no resolution.
Using Linux, so I'm open to using an app that can remap mouse buttons on a per-application basis, if anyone knows of something like that.
Any pointers?

Thank you, Pesala.
I think I looked through all relevant middle-click posts here before registering; your linked Option to Disable Closing Tab on Middle-click being the closest (yes, I saw you in there) -- I almost replied in that thread, but thought that since it was 2.5 years old it would be 'stale'. Upvoting now.
Thank you for the links and the kind welcome.

Ahh, you're right; Fx doesn't offer that option anymore - but I don't use Fx much anymore.
I use Waterfox Classic as my main reader, as it's the most configurable and has the look/feel of old Fx (and you can read without going blind). I had to look - it's been so long - but I configured middle-click through TabMix Plus, although I think there must be an about:config setting in there somewhere.
Cheers.

I think it would be much easier to allow the default middle click close tab action in all your browsers and configure a universal way to refresh a page.
If you prefer to use your mouse rather than F5 and are using an X11 distro you can use easystroke to bind a keystroke or a command to a spare mouse button. (eg Mouse4)
I have been using this for years to manipulate windows.
You'll find a quick guide HERE. -
Yeah, good ol' bloated xserver, for now, anyway.
This looks promising. The one thing I've been thinking/worried about losing, with reassigning middle-click to F5, is the 'open in new tab' functionality of current middle-click on hyperlinks, which I really like.
Thank you, CantankRus. I will look further into this.

Couple of tips for easystroke.
I find setting the gesture drawing to right mouse works better and you can also set a button to only work on click and hold so other mouse click functions are still available.
eg I have m8 set to run a script only on click and hold, which retrieves my admin password from the gnome keyring.

Could potentially be done as browser modification. If you’re willing to implement a Javascript mod, post a topic over on the modding board and I’ll take a look at it. Read pinned topics first.
