Undo a sync, or restore previous sync state
-
Something strange happened on my pc, I'm not really sure what, but nearly all my tabs disappeared. They didn't show up in the trash can icon either, so it's not like they were "closed" per se, more like they just ... vanished. As if they were never there to begin with.
In any case, I know these tabs were synced across all my devices. I figured I could get 'em back if I went to those devices and opened them one by one (a taxing task, but one I was willing to go through). But, alas, the sync kicked in and now I can't access the old tabs there either.
Is there a way to restore an older synchronized session in vivaldi? Perhaps a way to look at all other synchronizations and choose one?

Update: I discovered the cause of this was Google deciding to arbitrarily delete an extension and disable it whether you liked it or not. Vivaldi, I guess, decided to follow suit. All the suspended tabs I had were just purged like they were never there. So that solves the mystery of "how".
But, my question here still stands - how do I restore a previously-synced session? Is that even possible?

By any chance, was that extension "The Great Suspender"?

Don't quote me on this but I don't believe Sync is designed to be a backup system.
It may be possible to do what you need but I'm not sure. -

Hi,
Welcome to Vivaldi's Forums! Here seems to be a workaround.
If the Extension is just disabled, enable it, recover, and change it.
Tab Suspender works fine.--

Thanks for the replies guys.
My main focus was whether or not Sync can be used as a backup, and it seems it cannot. Sync, I guess, doesn't store sessions you can recall nor go back to. Good to know, I guess. The best course of action here is to save a session (File -> Save Open Tabs as Session) just in case anything goes bad.
But for those wondering, yes, the extension was "The Great Suspender". The option to reactivate the extension is actually disabled, and even if it wasn't, it wouldn't restore the tabs. The workaround is to check in your history for this garbled mess of characters: "klbibkeccnjlkjkiokjodocebajanakg" and copy/paste them, sans the extension prefix.
I honestly hope Vivaldi includes a timed interval for its hibernate feature, as well as a whitelist for sites you never want to invoke hibernation on (unless manually). I'd rather not have to use an extension if I can avoid it. From what I understand, Microsoft Edge has this exact feature... But, for the time being, I'm fine with just manually hibernating things and utilizing lazy-loading.
Never thought I'd see the day when MICROSOFT'S browser has a useful feature that neither Google nor Vivaldi has...
