Address bar and tab fixes, better DRM support, plus the start of the Mail, Calendar and RSS Technical Previews – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2115.4
-
@potmeklecbohdan Well, I'm not a JS programmer, how would you call the API to clear the
vivaldi.panels.list
element? -
@Steffie FWIW, I just had to enable M3 in experiments, restart V and Bingo, the three icons were in my panel.
-
@mossman: It happens when a site uses XSLT to transform the feed into a web page. That makes it very hard to detect when you load the feed itself because the original feed markup is gone, and has been replaced with HTML (detection operates after the page has loaded, rather than delaying page loading by pre-parsing every single page, or loading it again afterwards like the source viewer). I will try to improve it (it used to work quite reliably, but some timing issues seem to have crept in).
-
@hlehyaric Which is, i presume, the expected & correct behaviour. Are we supposed to have fully configured each of those items' Settings first before we can make them appear in the panel? No, idiot moi, that's not what you did. Sigh, now it seems i need to begin file surgery like some of the other posts mention, which definitely i'm not gonna try til i've had some sleep.
-
vivaldi.prefs.reset("vivaldi.panels.list")
I recommend also backing them first, e.g.
vivaldi.prefs.get("vivaldi.panels.list", console.log)
for simple-to-view output, or
vivaldi.prefs.get("vivaldi.panels.list", l => console.log(JSON.stringify(l)))
for simple-to-copypasta
-
@potmeklecbohdan In the console? I just get:
Uncaught ReferenceError: vivaldi is not defined at <anonymous>:1:1
I think you're making certain assumptions here
-
@Pathduck Coz you run it from the webpage’s devtools, I guess (see https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/16684/inspecting-the-vivaldi-ui-with-devtools)
-
@potmeklecbohdan Thank you, that was the missing bit
@Steffie try running the command @potmeklecbohdan posted above in the UI Inspector console, it should work.
Details:
- Go to
vivaldi://inspect/#apps
- Click inspect on the top Vivaldi app.
- Go to the Console tab.
- In the console type the command
vivaldi.prefs.reset("vivaldi.panels.list")
- It will return
undefined
, that's expected.
- Go to
-
@Steffie But first make sure you have all your web panels backed up
-
@potmeklecbohdan One of my WPs is @LonM's clever Sessions Panel; does this mean i will need to start all over with that later?
-
@Steffie IDK how it works, maybe yes & maybe no.
-
@Steffie You'll just need to re-add the panel by entering the URL. It should still work fine afterwards without any extra work
-
Thank you each. My courage has deserted me atm & my eyes are fuzzy, so i shall resume the struggle tomorrow. Good luck all.
-
"Only show status info overlay" for Status Bar seems not working.
-
@potmeklecbohdan Backup is always best done when doing these things.
Anyway the procedure was painless, at the reboot there were the 3 new icons and everything else was in place. -
The German Tech Blog Deskmodder reports:

ok, this ist the very first TP from mail aka M3 (yehaaa!!!) but what does these settings do??? I'm afraid of activating this
I'm to lazy to check the english setting but it could be something like burn after reading ??
-
@derDay They're totally harmless, try them out.
They're just visual effects accompanying the popup dialog.
-
@mossman Tnx for pointed out, I forgot to have an hotmail. I could use that which is only used for log in to win10 feedback app.. Let see what happens
Oh, nice: 170 junk, 21 inbox. And all are spams, better than TB. Cool
Account icon is broken, but it was quite expected.
A nice woman want to know me. Also expected ^^, -
I can't believe it! Almost 6 years ago a installed the first public snapshot and waited for the Mail client because one of the Vivaldi managers promised that it definitely be added soon.
//Flew away to test.
