Oh noes, I gotta reset my Vivaldi profile I only get the additional panels in a test/clean profile.
Workaround: Close Vivaldi, open
Preferences
JSON and delete the Vivaldi > Panels element. This will reset the panels on restart. You'll have to re-add any panels so make sure to save the list of URLs as a backup.Edit: Deleting
Vivaldi > Panels > List
also works, no need for complete reset. -
Finally! Thank you, thank you thank you! Oh, what a happy day!
Now after so many years I can finally download all my mails from the mail server and get the space freed up again.
"Pre beta"? Who cares.^^ It will be alright. (have I just heard my future alter ego laughing hysterically? Nah, must have been something else

@mossman Nice find!
I thought that was what we would have to do anyway - did people expect the panels to self-activate?
-
@Pathduck Now I feel a little bad for not forwarding my post above also to you… but anyway you seem to have found the way (& confirmed that it should be enough)

Hi,
I'm running this snapshot version of the browser so I could check out the new technical preview of the mail..etc. app by doing this: "you can now enable them via “vivaldi://experiments” (you will need to restart the browser after doing so). " So far I haven't seen any changes to the vivaldi mail client, could it be that I possibly did something incorrectly ?

@Pathduck Good idea, but sadly not my issue. Something else is going wrong.
-
Okay - so Hotmail worked flawlessly, now I'm trying my old Opera newsfeeds...
The first couple I opened (I had bookmarked them a few months ago in preparation for this day) immediately showed the feed content with a big "subscribe" button... great!
However, the next couple I tried (BBC News, for example) show a feed content page and description about using a newsreader etc. but I could see no way to actually get it "installed" in Vivaldi. I know they still work in Opera, so that's not it.
I was able to copy the URL of the open page and paste it in a new feed from the settings menu... phew!
I also haven't seen an RSS logo appear in the address bar like it used to in Opera...
Edit: I just saw a page with an address-bar feed link. Used it and it works. So feeds work but their identification seems a bit hit-and-miss.

@potmeklecbohdan Well there's no command for editing preferences on Windows, you'd need to edit the JSON directly. I think at least, or can it be done in console?

@luetage I am embarrassed to now need to admit... in our earlier banter i had COMPLETELY misunderstood your symptom, as i did not even realise that we're supposed to have new items in our Panel [i stupidly thought you meant the new icon in the Status Bar]. Now that finally i've realised that, i despair to acknowledge that i also cannot make the new icons appear in the WP, in neither my main nor Test profile. I think i need to sleep on this; i must be overlooking something hideously fundamental.

@Pathduck The vivaldi.prefs API is everywhere.
