Fix enable/disable cmd + f cell focus in Google Sheets & general keyboard shortcut rant
-
Hi all,
Hope you're well
Thanks for (overall) excellent software
In Google Sheets, when I navigate to / select a cell via clicking (mouse/trackpad) or arrowing (keyboard) then use cmd + f (i.e. to find in page/sheet) then esc (i.e. to stop finding) the focus doesn't return to the selected cell, which forces me to click into the cell in order to arrow and/or type again
This is obviously a bug as none of the other browsers I have installed (i.e. Brave, Firefox, Safari) exhibit this behaviour
Can anyone else reproduce this?:
- If yes then I'll create a bug report
- If no then please confirm your platform so admins can move this to macOS
I'm so tired of babysitting keyboard shortcut issues and y'all should really consider a sit down regarding keyboard shortcuts in Vivaldi, whether it's:
- giving users options to ((disable/enable) (global browser / local website) shortcuts for (all websites / each website));
- educating users on how to manage their shortcuts, or;
- something else
Keyboard shortcut issues (so far in 2020):

If you're reading and:
- agree, then please vote up (e.g. +1, like), or;
- disagree, then please vote down (e.g. -1, dislike) - I'd love to know why?
If you have any issues (e.g. questions/queries) then happy to help
Keep up excellent work!
Hope this helps and to hear back
Sincerely

BTW and off topic, in case you haven't notice yet, there's no downvote any longer.

I would vote down simply because it is a rant and the title shows that you have not thought it through. Ranting is so childish. Don't you think the Vivaldi developers have thought about this and discussed it before? They don't have control over how websites are coded.
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/46414/ctrl-f-bug was a PEBCAK error.

Apart from the useless ranting, yes I can reproduce this on Windows 10 latest snapshot.
Please report a bug, it would be nice to have a usability fix on this, as it works as expected in FF, Chromium and Opera

Please elaborate?
I just spent >1 hour researching other posts before posting, if that's not thinking it through then I don't know what is?!
Don't you think the Vivaldi developers have thought about this and discussed it before?
I have no idea, I raised a related issue this time last year and nothing has been done about it so how much more patient should I be?
Sincerely

Some bugs and issues may take time to be fixed, as this is a very small team and depending on the complexity of the task. The more workarounds there are, the longer it is.
