Configurable menus and full page notes manager – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1921.3
-
@AgentX You can double click a note in the notes panel to open it in the notes tab (#notes³)
-
@luetage The double-click behaviour will open the note's URL if it has one. I reported this as a bug:
(VB-67786) Double-click on Note Does not Always Open Note Editor
I think consistent behaviour is important here. Replacing the current tab is not very user-friendly if you don't know that the note has a URL. The link in the Note Description pane can be used to go to the URL (but that also replaces the current tab). The usual Middle-click, Ctrl+Click, or Shift+Click can be used to bypass this behaviour.

The German magazine "deskmodder" writes positively about Configurable menus:
-
-
@jumpsq It still is possible in Opera 12.18, but Vivaldi is a different program. If it was possible in earlier versions, it is not now, which points to an intentional design decision, but I think it never has been available. The feature request goes way back.
-
@Pesala Although this is correct, I'd hope for a Windows panel from my browser. Maybe some love can be put into this and a Links panel after Notes and M3 are done.
-
@jumpsq
I searched for this thread and already upvoted it -
@AgentX Then that's a note with an associated URL. A note that you wrote yourself in the Notes panel will not do that.
-
@AgentX That’s what Pesala already said. Valid point, I never noticed it because I don’t have any notes with URL.
-
Nice new option, especially
Cast..
. I haven't noticed that beforeDarn, it sees my tv's but says they are not supported
-
Is there a snapshot PPA Snapshot releases. A particular bug relating to Fullscreen video was resolved in a snapshot, but I don't want to give up regular updates.
-
@typkrft Define PPA. You can install snapshot as a standalone alongside stable, update each from within the app, and each will update independently.
-
@luetage Some notes, not all, as i posted earlier.
-
@sjudenim Casting might require some specific hardware, like some sort of wireless network where your PC and TV are connected to the same router. Maybe even both having Chromecast.
I could only get it to work on my setup (wired PC-->router-->wireless Miracast webOS TV) with Youtube videos. For the tab/desktop/file cast, it sees the TV, but source is never supported. -
@Gwen-Dragon I think "Acrylic" looks nice when used as decoration.
I have a powerful CPU & GPU so I would be happy to have it on my desktop vivaldi.
I would not like it on my laptop, which needs to rely on battery.
-
@typkrft I should mention that in Linux, Stable and Snapshot are identified as different products (Vivaldi and Vivaldi-Snapshot), and each has its own repo. Updates for each are available through the update manager after the initial install of each stream. This is unlike Windows, which cannot tell one version of Vivaldi from another - which means in Windows, if you have multiple versions on one machine, you're best to update using the auto-update within the app so that you don't accidentally update a given version from the wrong stream.
-
@jumpsq: I would love it
-
@ayespy: really
pity I haven't used it much in ClassicOpera -
@folgore101: Could be possible to save different sets of customizable menu beyond the both original presets
