Bookmark Bar Show/Hide Multi Options (as in Chrome)
-
In Chrome I can set to show my Bookmark Bar to show only on my start page. And to hide in other tabs when browsing.
Why is this good?
-
Because we can have more screen acreage specially on laptops.
-
It is a lot cleaner.
-
Can quickly open a new tab (CTRL + T) and see the Bookmark Bar again on my Start Page. Where I can load any page from that Bar, naturally needed there for most of my regularly needed URLs to load.
Right now I have to lose screen space to Bookmark Bar when browsing. I mainly need it on Start Page usually.
I suggest the following section in Settings:Bookmarks
Bookmark Bar Visibility:
Show when Browsing [X]
Show on Start Page [X]
Show on Homepage [X]
Show on Blank Page [X]
is a TickBox optionThe first option, Show when Browsing, is when a page has loaded up an URL other than Start Page/Home/Blank. Basically tabs when browsing the web.
I am sure this simple logical power feature will be loved by the devs once incorporated because it gives more power and screen space specially on laptops where space is limited.
Thank you for the great browser, my default now.

Also in Chrome I can:
Right-mouse-click on a Bookmark Bar button
Choose: edit
change the name and URL for that buttonOn Vivaldi, I can only change the name (Rename).
To change the URL, I have to do it from Bookmarks. Can we add Edit URL to Right-mouse-click options.
Or have Edit only which includes Renaming, as in Chrome? Thanks again.

@washere The Context Menu in Bookmarks Bar is already in the list.
You might want to vote for Autohide Bookmarks Bar
If you add this link as a web panel you can easily search for other feature requests simply by changing the search string from "Bookmarks" to any other term. Enclose more than one word in quotes to search for a precise phrase.

I did search on that link as forum suggests for my main Request before posting, as in my Thread Title.
On the supplementary suggestion, I can see the edit bookmark button in the link you quoted, I voted it up.
Thanks.

I've just been going through the latest update (1.16.1230.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and this basic Chrome feature is still missing.
i.e.: Show my Bookmark Bar to show only on my start page. And to hide in other tabs when browsing.
I am not interested in auto-hide, mouse gestures or hover or other cursor tracking, speed-dial, bookmark panel etc etc. Just what Chrome does as a basic and used by many to save screen acreage on laptops etc. Written again in bold. It is not a big ask either.
Thanks @Devs if reading this and doing it if you find the time. It is a basic feature within Chrome and many use it.
-
@washere I know is not quite the same, but I made a simple custom mod with this feature.

Hope you can use it -
@MasterLeo29 That's a nice bit of script Leo. I hope the Devs see it and add it, or similar, to the core. Saves messing about on new installs.
And also hopefully they can add a CheckBox to enable/disable it in Settings: Bookmarks.

Thank you for your request. As it has received few votes over 4 years, it is now going to be archived.
