@darkarth If you add a bookmark, by default it will save it to your last used folder. If you select your Bookmark Bar it will add it at the end. Perhaps the sort order is affecting this?

You can also drag and drop the URL from the Address Bar and drop it anywhere you like on the Bookmark Bar.
I guess this hasn't gotten anywhere... I need the exact same solution, and I see others asking for separation on speed dial configurations between machines.
I have a vast directory structure of bookmarks that I store under separate work directories per company, another separate home directory, and a rotating work directory that I keep refreshed with what's useful to me at the time. However, I keep going to work and having to re-locate the directory to set as my bookmarks bar, only to go home and do the same thing. This is very silly. I want to keep my bookmarks between jobs, not create a new Vivaldi sync account every new job separately from my home account.
+1 from me. Hopefully, this gets some dev time eventually.
P.S. Honestly, a global profile variable that encases all settings seems like the best implementation here. Load up all of the settings you want under separate "work" and "home" profiles: happy user.
I'm marking this as done. If you click "open" when right clicking a bookmark bar folder, you can use that to open all the tabs of that folder.
There is however still a lack of support for the full bookmark hierarchy.

Bookmark Bar Folder Should Stay Open After Click on a Bookmark
I have no idea why middle-click on a bookmark should open two tabs. The current behaviour is to open the bookmark in a new background tab. (My middle mouse button rarely works, so I use Ctrl+Click for the same result). Shift+click opens the bookmark in a new foreground tab.
@andydelz Not just eye-candy for those with lots of bookmarks and icons only. Larger icons make it quicker to recognise the site without having to read the tooltips.
Tooltips are still necessary though as some bookmarks may share the same icon.
@pesala So join this two topics to two checkboxes (and one of current remove):
Show bookmarks bar on new tab
Show bookmarks bar when not in new tab
Maybe can be one more:
Show bookmarks bar on vivaldi:// and chrome:// pages
