It's been five days since the Beta 3 and we have another big pile of fixes and improvements for you! Some highlights include fixes to a number of bugs that you, our regular snapshot users, have requested:

      • We have added support for Ctrl, Shift and Middle click on bookmarks bar items
      • On Mac we have added pinch to Zoom
      • On Linux we fixed the problems with middle click pasting text selections in the URL field.
      • It is now possible to assign a keyboard shortcut to switch between light and dark themes
      • We have fixed several Fastforward and rewind issues

A few "not average user" needs:

      • MDI
      • Private tabs

      😉

That's impressive changelog just after you release beta 3 last Friday, but first of all, it's a great post describing essence of Vivaldi. I'm happy that you are not following trend of equaling software to average user. Thanks for that. I hate when developers treat me like normal user and don't even give a chance to access more powerful settings.

Can't middle click links inside a folder on the bookmarks bar to open in another tab (VB-4355)

      Thanks for this!

      Another request that it's already implemented in Opera (this idea is implemented because a developer of Opera liked it);

If you do a middle click in Bookmarks Bar (sub items) .. can you keep the bookmarks bar folder opened? so, if you do, I can middle click others in other bookmarks items at the same time and I don't need to open the folder again, and over again …

      Thanks for listening us.

      Thanks for the update.

I wouldn't be badmouthing Firefox so much though, it is still the best and most customizable browser out there IMO 😉

I hope you won't forget Vivaldi performance over all the great individual features.

We have a long list to work on. Private tabs will be there. MDI we will have to see about. Sometimes it is a question of taking things one step forwards. I think our tab stack tiling is a good step in the right direction and we will continue to evolve this. But we will listen to your requirements.

      Cheers,
      Jon.

Appreciate Vivaldi's attitude more than I can express. You have given our small community life and hope again in relation to web browsing. Thanks for so much work this time again.

Good to see lots of bugfixes. I would suggest that amidst all the new (great) features to not forget about performance. E.g. It takes not long, but a noticeable amount of time to open a new tab after pressing ctrl+T.

We have added support for Ctrl, Shift and Middle click on bookmarks bar items

      • What about doing the same but for Speed Dials?
Middle click works… Ctrl and Shift.... not so much 😉

      • And a setting for controlling cache placement pleasee?

      • I would LOVE the little line that you click to summon the panels to be slimmer (Opera 12 style). Believe it or not I find it kind of distracting! 😛

Thank you Devs for an awesome work!

Thank you Jon for assembling the Team!

And thank you for listening to us all!!

Thanks a lot for your continuous efforts to give us a browser that adopts to our individual requirements rather than the other way 'round. From my very first experience with Vivaldi ("ugh, they don't really colour their UI in glowing red, do they?") until now, you've really achieved a lot, and I'm more than happy you don't intend to follow the common trend.

A small UI glitch I noticed since some versions but failed to report so far is regarding the "minimize" button on Windows 10. With a (dark) UI scale set to 80% (my default), the minimize button seems to be empty; it is clickable and working all right, but due to the scaling, the horizontal line is not shown at all.

I install every single update hoping that this time hotkeys will finally work regardless of the active keyboard layout. But they still don't.

I am aware of that feature, but it will require a redesign of the menus. That will not happen until after 1.0

You can configure the cache directory using command line options. I've set up a ramdisk-drive (as V:) and added the following to my Vivaldi-shortcut:
      –disk-cache-dir="v:\cache" --disk-cache-size=10485760
This limits the cache to 10MB and puts it on drive V:. I don't like disk-cache all too much and especially with a SSD it might be advantageous not to write the cache to the semi permanent storage.

When adding a Speed Dial, please make it so the URL field accept URLs without the http:// prefix.
Also would love if it supported "middle click scroll" on Linux.
